TATE Service...

My latest TATE experience - A PERFECT 5

Got my Little One back yesterday and I am very very very happy.

TATE Service this time was GREAT.

Wed. am dropped off my MINI - Loaner (MCSa) ready.
Items to be done : engine bracket to be fixed and iPod set up (last minute decision), key doesn't open top - remote doesn't always work, oh finally I received my Flik centercaps (cheap looking) could they be installed ?

Wed. afternoon got a call - Sorry the part came in today but MINI will be ready tomorrow- No problem I have the loaner

Since they were going to fool around the glovebox for the iPod I asked to get the glovebox organizer installed. Caroline coordinates the payment w/ my c/c. Cool, I don't have to buy and install it myself.

Thursday noon: MINI is ready. I don't know if I can pick it up today or Friday a.m. but either day is fine with Caroline.

I decided to pick it up in the afternoon before closing - Streghina is outside waiting for me. Since I paid over the phone it takes less than 2 minutes to swap keys and get my paperwork. I have a question about the iPOD functions. Caroline calls Sam who not only shows me how the iPOD works but spends a good 1/2 hr helping me to figure out the play lists, sounds etc. The organizer is so cool, too.

Before I take off Sam talks to me about my brakes, tires (I agrees w/ me centercaps are cheapy looking) and makes sure that the bracket noise is gone.

IPod Install Price : I don't know I haven't checked the bill
Good Service PRICELESS !!

That is awesome!! Glad to hear things went smoothe with Tate this time. The glove box organizer, is that the semi-felt fuzzy feeling shelf that splits in 3 at the bottom and 2 at the top? Combien $? Also, do you know if Tate or other dealerships carry the shelf that goes below the steering wheel?

Yes it is and the best part when you open the glovebox nothing falls down. Sam put the iPOD jack on the top shelf and you cannot even see it.

Combien $?

Need to check my bill but about $36.00-38.

I need to look into the EURO Shelf (that's name) myself. If you find something let me know. Somebody was selling it on NAM but Chris from SC got it 1st

BTW When are you going to make the BIG announcement ??

Glad your experience mirrored my last one! Although the SA at the time no longer works there,I got same-day service and was in and out in just a shade over 2 hours.

I went in today and Caroline started my ticket and the new girl DJ finalized it. She has only been there since last Wednesday.

After I got my ticket written I spent almost 2 hours with Sam the tech trying to isolate a weird noise in the rear of my car. What a tech!

Glad to hear that everything is on the up-and-up with Tate again. I was anxiously awaiting the outcome of how the service was going to go. I'm happy to see that it appears to be going well & hopefully (and I believe it will) continues to do so.

I guess that means my shoes have been filled-Best of luck to Caroline & DJ, it seems they have a pretty good handle on things!

Dropped off Streghina this A.M. and ... Tate has lost another Service Advisor: Debbie is gone - I want to say " I told you so" but " I told you so". In any case, I did not care for her much and I had the feelings she was not going to last - plus she knew nothing about cars... even less about MINIs - Caroline is still there, thank God, and she is sweet and caring as usual.

Maybe I should apply for the job... after all I know MINIs pretty well ..

I'd love to apply. Although i'd probaly get a ticket each day to work as I wouldn't be able to wait to be @ work with my favorite car.

Or I'd have trouble telling people how bad their mods look. Like those wheels, vinyl, interior is so non-MINI. Oh and Sam told me whoever installed your exhaust was sloppy

And why, oh why, are people that are NOT into MINIs SAs? It just doesn't make sense! (Case in point: Jeff at Sterling. I wonder if that @^%# is still there? I'm thinking of trading up to an MCS w/ Nav but the thought of having to see that guy again makes me physically ill. But I will be more than happy to give my money to another SA there, though!). I mean, go sell Fords or something, and stop whining because you aren't on the BMW side anymore! But wait, that might actually be work. It must be nice to be you and sit at your desk and have people flock to give you money for cars without having to do a thing, not even negotiate, except to lie and insult your customers!

Dang... a year later and I'm still bitter. *sigh*.

That is exactly why I would like to become an SA. I enjoy MINI's/mini's, and enjoy the people as well. I may not be the most knowledgable of MINInites, but I know how to be nice to people and listen. Everything seems to be going the way of WalMart customer service, the "I just work here" attitude.

You can get the glove box organizer for around $18-$20 online at mossmini.com or outmotoring.com. Im not sure which was cheaper. You can also get the euro parcel shelf from either one of those sites too. Theyre both easy to install, takes only minutes.

It sounds like some of you are getting SA confused with MA.

SA = Service Advisor. The person you interact with to schedule, dropoff and pickup for service on your existing MINI.
MA = Motoring Advisor. The one that sells you a new MINI.

I would think it's easier to become an MA, since you don't have to know detailed technical car parts to sell a MINI. It's probably more pleasant too... less demanding customers!

I don't think I could fit in the back seat to be an MA Sure, it would be fun, but doesn't the salesperson go with the prospective buyers on a test drive?

I don't think so. At Tate the MA doesn't go w/ the prospective buyers , but I might be wrong ... never test drove a MINI.. I just buy them

To follow up from Marina's comment on Tate, not at MoS either. The MA takes you out to the MINI, shows you the basics, and you drive off... after leaving your license of course. They do ask you to go on a specific path - there's a quiet side road around the corner with a couple of bends, it's usually devoid of traffic... so that's why they send you there.
