If not full I'll bring a Red Convertible...

...thinking I can rig up a flag pole mount on the roll bar hoops...

I'll plan on it unless you tell me you've got too many.

I thought about talking with Tate MINI while were there on Saturday for the breakfast. Maybe they can sponsor one of our cars and put some ads for the dealership. I'm asking first to make sure that such a thing is ok for the club to be a part of.

Is the Annapolis Parade an acceptable venue for rolling adverts? I'm sure there's no end of banners lining the route, and corporate-sponsored floats always make mention of their origin, but wouldn't this be a bit of a "grey area" at best?

Cheers,

What is the count now ? Is it too late to add another local red MC ?
If not, please add us. If at the limit, I guess we'll come and watch.

I was thinking about the same thing. Since we are going to have breakfast there this Saturday we can see what they say. They, however, should give us something in exchange. Annapolis Parade is pretty big deal and most likely we going to end in the paper.. so Tate or Towson, for the matter, can benefit a great deal.

James is trying to contact the Parade officials to see if we can change the number of MINIS (practically double it) .

FYI ".

July 4 -- Fourth of July celebrations:
  • Annapolis parade and fireworks: Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. It will march down West Street, around Church Circle, down Main Street to the City Dock. Naval Academy's Concert Band will perform at the end of City Dock just prior to the fireworks, which will start at about 9 p.m. "

I signed up for DCMM last week, but still need to send in my dues.

I'd like to attend as well, if possible.

OK Everybody,

I have to call a moratorium on ANY new cars until I talk to the parade folks...they may not approve more than ten cars. But I'll see if I can sweet-talk 'em.

Sit tight, I'll post the news as soon as I get it!

We'll drive each color next to the other. We'll make it look like a bigger car going down the blvd.

Good News!

We can have sixteen MINIs and I think we can get away with twenty.

BUT I was told that decorations are key. They want to have more than just a bunch of cars driving down Main Street, because after all, they have that every day anyway.

So they want us to DECORATE our cars with patriotic themes.

Get busy!

I'll post the meeting place/time a little later.

Hmm..we got to figure out what we can put on the cars. We need to dress the cars up at that meeting spot.

Streamers and other stuff??

For the converts...

I was thinking of making a bracket that would span the roll bar hoops. Perhaps two pieces of wood (with padding where it touchs the hoops) that would bolt together and clamp the two hoops. In one of these that spans that area I'd drill a hole or holes for flag poles... U.S. Flag or flags flying from it...

What would be REALLY cool would be big magnetic signs with the DC Metro MINI's graphic on em to put on all the doors. But that would cost REAL $ I imagine.

That's a good idea, I think I'll make two of them for me and Marina...so our Little Ones can be patriotic!

just remember that you will probably not be driving fast enough in parade to get the flag to stand out straight......might want to weave in a coat hangar or something.

.....what I am really wondering, is who will dress up like George Washington?

Dressing like George

In the Alexandria GW Birthday parade a few months back, there was a car with a sign on the side proclaiming to carry George and Martha Washington.

There appeared to be two Georges in the car! I guess neither guy was willing to go in drag... Or Martha was a 'handsome' woman? Or...

Stop reading my mind.... sort of
I was thinking someone needs to work up a diarama of George Washington crossing the Delaware on the top of their car. Work in some servo motors so you can fake movement of the water...

I am not sure about Patriotic theme and the MINI, but if we get TATE to sponsor they can provide us with some decorations, right?

The day before I have the SOLO class (lev 2) so the 4th will be spent in cleanning (and decorating ) my Little One.

Is anyone counting how many cars we have? Remember 20 is the max.

I know we have RED and BLUE what about the White any Pepper White participating?

Also, how many people are staying in Annapolis for the fireworks? We can host a few folks on top of our roof or we can go inside the USNA (half a block from our place) . Want to come to our place after the Parade and before the fireworks?

MINI decorations.

If my test convertible flag mount / rack works out, I could probably punch out a few, one for each convert if the owners of the cabrios so desire.

I do not want to touch this part until any plans are made with the dealer if any at all. For now I would consider the dealer out of the question and for us to just worry about what WE can do for ourselves. Thats the best way I can put it. At least until this Saturday.

Could you show a pic of what your making? One car my family is bringing is a Black MCC and would like some way to decorate it.
