BBQ Gathering - MINI of Towson - June 25
whew. ok. The run is over. I was starting to think on the drive home how to avoid some of the mishaps that occurred on the run, the easier solution would have been to have a laptop and track the route from there. Via point removal and re-route would have been much easier......then again, have a laptop prop'ed open on that drive would not have been a good idea. The two closed roads required via points to be removed on the route and that is not easy with this particular gps. The missed turn, where we turned around in the guys backyard, was an error on my part.
The gps shows/speaks not only the coming turn, but the turn after that if it is quick enough. I didnt catch the first direction, and only caught the second. The other pauses where problems with the navteq maps themselves. Since the maps dont include stop signs, and dont tell you take a left at a stop sign to stay on the road you are travelling, you have to pay really close attention to the street signs at stop signs. So going back to the idea I had last year of creating routes for the mini gps system and using them.....yeah, I dont think GPS guidance is good for backroad car driving. It will get you point to point, but anything more can be a hassle.(mike, you want that disk back?)
With all that said, I hope everyone had fun. I, personally, when I was not fighting with the GPS, had fun. The roads up there are well worth a day to themselves. Kudos to the S owners/passengers, I am sure a couple of those roads gave those shocks a work out.
To wagnbat, hold onto the radio till the next tate breakfast, I will pick it up there.
...and I hope somebody picked up the swiss and apples, the apples are good right now.

You'll probably be getting a ransom note about it sometime soon.

The ice packs are in the freezer, the cheese and apples are in the fridge, and the lovely cutting board and paring knife are resting in the kitchen.
I'll deliver when we agree on a place and time. No games.
Of course, I'll use my GPS to navigate...

Actually planning on seeing "Layer Cake" soon, CmdrVimes put a bug in my ear for that one.
Speaking of ears, he (CmdrVimes) apparently mistook Dave (big_davoc) for you, based solely on accent, it seems. You have met before, right? Towson MINI Night out, at least?
Cheers,
Matthew Z.

Want to try for any of those? Your pick, since they are about the same distance from me. After this, it might be a DVD-only thing.

G'day Edge

I'm sorry I missed it yesterday, it sounds like you all had a great time. I'll hopefully catch up with you all again soon.

Mike, Brisbane is the capital of the state of Queensland. Been there too.

A very nice time at Towson on Saturday. Thanks to Towson for letting us invade and stay a little cool inside. Paul deserves all the back patting he can handle for grilling all afternoon.

I am not in any rush(i bought extra cheese and apples for myself), so if you can use it use....bring it into work,etc.... but i would like the cooler/ice packs and my 30-year old cutting board back. heh.
I am probably only going to do the Tate Breakfast this month, if you are planning to go there, that would be the best time. Otherwise maybe we can pass if off to someone else and work it back to the Tate Breakfast.
FYI all, I have posted my BBQ pics to my gallery here and I set up an album on the miniusa site too. The album on miniusa is set up to permit others to upload photos as well if you want to. If you can, please help me put names to the people in the photos. Thanks
