Dragon Panoramic Pic

Hey all! Just wanted to let you know I received my 6ft honkin' MOTD group shot at the dam dam! You can see everybody pretty much crystal clear, and those in that 4th rear row are pretty legible. Any recommendations on where to frame the sucker? And it's not going in a garage, because one didn't come with my apartment (although you can carry the Mini to the 3rd Floor I guess)... but anywhooo.. it's going right behind my desk at work.. Paul's mini display on his desk will be put to shame!!! They keep telling me I need pictures, and they're gonna get one

(Hurry back from your cruise Paul! And fill us in on what interesting attire you scared people with on it.. thank god you didn't find that leisure suit!!)

Micheal's tends to runs some decent specials for framing every so often. We've had a few things done by them and have been pleased with the results...

you might try a do-it-yourself place, if there's one near you. They will help you put it together, thereby saving a few bucks....

Not a bad thought either, heck I think there's one over on Ft Belvoir, by the Hobby Shop not the place in the main exchange...

Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was in todays mail, what a great shot. I am having mine mounted on "gator board", with a hanger on it and hang it without a frame or glass.
Can't get over how great it turned out. It is a shame everyone didn't get in it. Maybe it should be a first thing in the morning shoot.
Motoring down life's ever changing road, with a huge smile on my face.

I believe that the photographer felt the morning light wasn't quite right for the shoot, zinful. Thanks for your feedback! I'll try to participate next year!

Another term for foamcore board, Katie. And you can get archival gator board so no acids damage the photo!

That was the original plan when we first start putting the photo together. However the photographer was extremely concerned about the shadows that would have been cast over the group if we tried it in the morning.

Ideally he wanted to take the shot at noon... Obviously that wouldn't have worked though so 3PM was the best compromise we could come up with.

If this is done again next year, the photographer says that he could do it on the ballfield at Fontana and get many more cars in than at the Dam. Since he didn't quite understand the layout of the ballfield this year he ruled it out.

Something for those working on next year's event to consider...

Gatorboard

Most picture framers will have this and a machine to mount it. Any reprographics company (in the old days, blueprint) should be able to do this. Most Kinkos can do this or will be able to suggest a place to get this done. I suggest gatorboard instead of fomecore, because over time the fomecore will curl, due to the length of the photo.
Warning, do not laminate, the laminate will leach the colors out of the photo.
Hope this helps.

Dam Photo

We counted 150+ MINIs. If evryone had been present there would have been twice that. It would have taken forevvvvvvvvver to get positioned. It was still awesome and allowed a lot of time to visit and walk around which is what a gathering is all about. We will be there next year too. We alaready have reservations for Fontana as do a bunch of us.

Motor On

I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up.
