Cigar Aficionado: MINI Article... and smokes.

just received my copy of cigar aficionado's most recent issue. And to my surprise an article on the mini. Pretty good article...

Which brings me to my next question. Does anyone here enjoy fine cigars? If so maybe a mini/cigar meet sometime. Its been about a month and I need to make some more room in my humidor.

HELL YEA! I do I do........I recently just got into cigars by a good buddy here in Dallas in the Metroplex MINI club.......

I looked over the new MINI article as I smoked a chisel cut Litto Gomez Dominican Puro......very AWESOME SMOKE! I used to be one of those guys that smoking disgusted me, but now I have a new 125 stick humidor with about 100 cigars inside ranging from Fuente, Gurkha, Carlos Torano, Gomez, Trilogy, Punch Gran Cru, Saint Luis Rey, CAO etc.......and some I bought off of Cuban Crafters.com!

I recently also got into the pipe tobacco too, and am starting to break in my pipe. We have about 7 or 8 people in our club that are ALL IN to fine cigars (actually had a few CLUB gatherings at cigar places and a few night outings at the ******* Texan). We usually get together at our monthly meeting to smoke a stogie in the parking lot as we look over the MINI's! You can't get any better than that! So far my favorite smoke has been the Litto Gomez with the AF Hemingway 6 1/2 inch long stogie as my runner up.

Its good to see other MINI brethren on the boards enjoy a good smoke, and I would love to see a huge gathering of MINI's at this years big Smokeathon in Vegas!

Cheers and smoke 'em up!

You are not along in the enjoyment of a fine cigar. My afternoon ritual consists of walking my two Great Danes the ½ mile to get my newspaper with a smoke then onto the porch while I read the paper and finish my cigar. Last night was different as it was snowing.

So you guys smoke anything recently that you could recommend?

The last cigar I had was a Montecristo A, and honestly... not that great a smoke. Draw was terrible! Its not the first A I've smoked but with the bad draw, I couldnt really enjoy it for the entire four hours it took me to smoke.

But I recently had a Cohiba Esplendido that I bought while in Cuba (dont ask) and that was pretty good.

I love a good cigar. Some of my fondest memory’s were cigar related, like finding a small shop off the beaten path in Cozumel Mexico where the proprietor had a fresh unopened box of Trinidad Fundadores which I had for the first time. He had a little cigar room set up and while I smoked he told me stories of his native Cuba. Or while in London making a visit to Davidoff of London to enjoy some of the best quality Cuban cigars, I understand that the U.K. gets the first quality Cubans. I have also found this great web site http://www.topcubans.com/ where you can order Cubans that are shipped Fed EX without the bands (which will arrive via post at a later date). The prices will match any you’ll find in your local shops for non Cuban cigars. They have a great variety. I would recommend:
Any of the Trinidad’s
Partagas Lonsdales
Montecristo A
Cohiba Lanceros
Romeo y Julieta Churchills

Love cigars. Only smoke outside in the nice weather, so it has been a while. Montecristo Whites are amazing.

I am a big pipe smoker, though I keep a humidor full of assorted cigars. I have about twenty pipes, and my favorites are a Castello half-bent billiard (Four-K Castello Collection) and a Savinelli eight-bent pot. These days my wife lets me smoke in the house only if I smoke a mild, sweet aromatic like Lane 1Q or Mac Baren Vanilla Cream. McClelland has an aromatic series out that us also very high quality. When she's not around, I prefer Sail Yellow.

In cigars, I think that Padron's regular series (NOT the Anniversario) is an excellent value--only a couple of bucks per, and it's a decent smoke. It's a Nicaraguan cigar and I think you can't beat it for the money. They have been having a quality-control problem lately, though, so it may be time to re-assess that view.

But I NEVER smoke in the MINI. :-)

FYI on some good online cigar shops, etc. ...

For legal Cubans and/or non-Cubans, go to: www.absolutecigars.com They are in Montreal, are licensed, and will send the cigars with the original bands.

For non-Cubans, try www.famous-smoke.com , in Easton, PA. They have weekly specials of brand name cigars, as well as their own labels and offer fast delivery. www.cubancrafters.com, of Miami is ok, but they generally sell only their own stuff from Nicaragua. www.cigarsinternational.com, Bethlehem, PA offers a weekly special, but of only one kind. They also have a wide selection of non-Cubans, as does www.niceashcigars.com, of NY. Nice Ash has the best prices on flavored cigars like Cojimar Exotics Chai Tea.

That WAS a very nice article on the MINI in the Feb. issue of Cigar Aficcionado. I thought it covered the history and present models well, as well as giving a nice glimpse of MINIs yet in the planning stages.

Civ would not be proud. What ever happened to being "nailed to the X"? Then again, I think he fell off the wagon years ago...

Nobody is more passionate about cigars than me! I do humidor and accessories testing for manufacturers (more as a hobby), own a beatuful cigar cabinet, and participate in many of the cigar boards on the Net. Time permitting, I do a pilgramage to Shellys downtown for a smoke and one of their great burgers. I even had a cigar "motif" personalized VA license plate on my last Mini - going to do the same on the new one MCS . When I picked up my 05, I celebrated with a fine Opus X. And yes, I read the CA article on the Mini ragtop too.

Mini Cigar Smokers UNITE!! Let get together.

I just started a few months ago and so far Acid Kuba's are my favorite. Very nice, a little pricey but very nice.

Hmm. Late April is both full for me and close to the Dragon.

We could do a Tax weekend thingie April 14-15th. But it might still be a bit cool? And the weekend before is Easter...

I dunno about that...it's hard to beat a Flor de Oliva at $1.60 each, or a Flor de Oliva Gran Cameroon for under $2 a stick.
