Club Dinner - September 18, 2004

Head's up for our monthy "Clubhouse Meeting"

Our location: (by popular demand in Annapolis, MD!)
Adam's Ribs Eastport
921C Chesapeake Avenue
Annapolis, MD 21403
Tel: 410-267-0064

They also have a web site you can check them out on www.adamsribs.com.

Meet between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm. We sit and order about 7:00 pm.

Payment is on your own. We will try for separate checks, but be prepared to do some math if necessary!

RSVP by 9.10.04 so we can give these fine folks a head count. Please RSVP to events@dcmetrominis.org.

There is a lot of interest growing (read below) about spending the day up in the Annapolis area as September 18 is also our breakfast morning at Tate MINI of Annapolis. Ideas so far include:

A possible drive up from the Marina in Alexandria
Catching a movie in the afternoon
Spending some time at Sandy Point State Park

Please read on and PM or post the folks whose ideas catch your fancy....

See you then and stay tuned for October!

Monthly dinners are back to stay, so expect one every month. I hope that for October we will be in DC.

Any idea on the day of the week yet? I have to work Wed & Thurs eve so I'm hoping it's not either of those days as I really want to go!

Popular opinion seemed to be for a weekend night, so we are looking at those right now.

Hey Jen...

The Italian restaurant is also a no go. The owner didn't want to tie up so many tables on a Sat. night....
Anyhoo, I went to Adam's Ribs in Eastport and they were enthusiastic. All we have to do is give them a call closer to the date with a head count and they'll do their best to accomodate the group. The manager was very nice.....tho' I found out the shift manager who used to have a MINI traded hers in for a Jeep. Oh well....
So, that's the scoop. I'll try to find other places this side of the Potomac where we might gather, but Adam's Ribs seems to be the place, at least for now.

I'm new to the whole car meet thing. How would we make up the bill? Everyone seperate or what? Also would it be in a smoking or non-smoking section of the place?

We're a solid maybe on this one...

We get home the day before, however David's schedule is going to be thoroughly trashed from this trip. Depending on the fallout from that, and whether or not it looks like he will cooperate will be whether or not we make it out to dinner.

As for the breakfast earlier in the day.... I doubt we'll be there (need time to do some laundry!)

Definitely! Except, umm... where's Belle Haven Marina? Is it the one by Old Town, by the Torpedo Factory?

I'm guessing that I'm not the only one that will have a bit of a drive to get out there! Since Tate (and the breakfast) is right down the road (I assume?), it'll be great if a 'local' could help us out with pointers of what to do and where to go in between breakfast and dinner! Even more fun if we could make an 'all day' MINI meet out of it!

I think I'm in... for what is another question!

Where are you coming from Paul? Anybody motoring down 270?

Anybody want to catch a movie somewhere in with all the motoring? Lots of time between breakfast & dinner...

Coming from south Alexandria! I think that Germantown is even farther from me than Annapolis!

But seeing a movie to while away the time would be fun!

Make a day of it in Annapolis

Sounds like there is a lot of interest in making a whole day of things in Annapolis. I'm up for this and will just tag along with whatever happens. Could definitely go for starting out from Alexandria, but in the morning to make it up to Annapolis maybe by 10:00 am? Mike -- want to plan a route? Are you up for an early morning?

Movie in the afternoon would be a fun way to spend some time. I hardly ever get to the movies anymore. Anything cool opening in September?

Any and all are welcome to our house...we live less than 10 mins. from Tate. I'd also be happy to answer any question you "out of towners" may have.
Sandy Point is 5 mins. from Tate...and there are 2 cineplexes within 15 mins.
Downtown Annapolis is fun if you've never been, but parking is a problem...especially on a Sat. if the weather's good. Also if the Naval Academy has football that weekend, Naptown becomes a zoo. Just fair warning....
As I said, y'all are welcome to hang at our house...

Opening on the 17th is Sky Captain and Wimbleton.

Katie:
Let's see how we are doing. Hopefully we won't be too exhausted as we aren't skipping time zones on the way home. I'm more concerned about the little man who will be quite pooped I'm sure. We will play it by ear; but be aware we won't be able to give you much notice if we are coming or not....like maybe the call saying we are walking out the door. David would love to see Winston again...he thinks doggies are funny.

Hugs,
PB

OT
Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in a swimming pool? Couldn't resist!

Great advance notice I'll have to check ahead and see if I can make it.

Cellular (the movie) will be out. Don't see much else coming that I've heard of yet...

If the game would make traffic in Annapolis a problem...

What about lunch at Rehoboth? Grottos? Thrashers? Nic-A-boli? Dip a toe (not a tire LOL) in the ocean?

Road Trip?
