What about lunch at Rehoboth? Grottos? Thrashers? Nic-A-boli? Dip a toe (not a tire LOL) in the ocean?

Road Trip?
Isn't Rehoboth a little far? How about Inner Harbor Baltimore?

Rehoboth is 2 hours away, so it's a bit far. I'd be happy to take folks up to the Inner Harbor...you'll have to pay for parking, but there's lots of it.
I don't know specifically if there will be a fball game that weekend in Naptown, that was just a heads up. We can kinda play it by ear, as I will be supplying the breakfast at Tate and so will be there the whole time. I'm open to whatever you guys want to do...

PB, if you guys come that's great...if not, that's ok too. Winston thinks tiny humans are funny too

Oh, come on Mr B... where's your sense of adventure?? It's only 93 miles! LOL Well, I would go, but the inner harbor's fine too... any cool movie theatres up there? Isn't there an IMAX up there somewhere? Wonder what's showing there... what's Sky Captain about?

Or if folks would rather go hang out at Katie's house maybe we should bring a copy of the Italian Job... got both on DVD....

Any concensus? Vote?

Sky Captain is about Howard Hughes.

Can I say something without being shot in the MINI community. Yes, I liked the Italian Job....but is it really the only movie we can watch when we gather? What happened to a little Bourne Identity or heck....there are minis in the Prisoner series.....The old one makes me sing that awful song and the new one is less exciting after the 100th time.....

(ducking for cover, now)

Hugs,
PB

I love the Italian Job... both actually, but I'm open. How about Mr. Bean or one of the old Steve McSomething (what was his name) famous car chase movies? The Cannball Run or Smokey & the Bandit...? Lots & lots of good car chase movies... Or we could watch something British... Monty Python anyone?

If the plan is to go to the Harbor (and trust me, there is PLENTY to do - aquarium, Barnes & Noble, Power Plant Live eateries, Little Italy is right there, too), then any Baltimore contingent might want to consider meeting the rest of y'all at the Harbor. I'd rather not drive to Annapolis in the AM, drive back to Baltimore between breakfast and dinner, then back to Annapolis, then back to Baltimore again. Then again I doubt many folks from Baltimore will be involved - seems like it's usually NoVA/southern MD MINIacs that do the DC Metro MINIs thing.

Not complaining, just something to consider.

Coupling? (NOT the NBC VERSION!)

Or the Prisoner?

"Where am I?"
"In the Village."
"What do you want?"
"Information."
"What side are you on?"
"That would be telling. We want Information, information, information."
"You want get it!"
"By hook or by crook we will."
"Who are you?"
"The new Number 2."
"Who is Number 1?"
"You are Number 6."
"I AM NOT A NUMBER, I AM A FREE MAN!"

I have the new one on DVD as well...you have the original on DVD? The IMAX up here is at the Maryland Science Center..which is in the Inner Harbor. Check their web site for what's playing and times. It's too early for that day's schedule, but it's an option.

Ahem! I believe you are referring to the late Steve McQueen. His movie, Bullitt, has probably one of the very best chase scenes in movie history. Bouncing, slamming, and racing his fastback Mustang 390 on the steep streets of San Francisco was just AWESOME! That is an excellent film for car freaks to watch!

Thank you, Clo! McQueen was exactly who I was thinking of and Bullitt was the movie too! Awesome chase scene.... (Was having a senior moment there!)

Katie, Yep... I have both Italian Job movies on DVD. New & old... Don't have Bullitt though... anybody?

Seems like we have a basic game plan... breakfast at Tate's, motor up to the Harbor, cruise back down to Katie's, watch a film somewhere in there (Inner Harbor or Katie's), hang out and then go to the Clubhouse for dinner...

Does this seem okay to anyone that's interested? We can firm things up as the time approaches so varies groups can meet up with us throughout the day as desired...

Everything 'cept for the Clubhouse part... The Clubhouse is The Totilla Factory, but we're not going there...

From Jim T's post, the Cheslights Light House Challenge might be fun. Has anyone driven this? If so, how long does it take to do all 10 including the Inner Harbor?

Thanks,
Marty

The Lighthouse run prolly takes a good long time.
Y'all should do whatever you guys want to do.
I'll have to do the breakfast thing.
If we do it carefully, we could park 7 cars in our driveway, the rest could park around the corner. My house is pretty small (hence the hoped-for addition), but comfy. Hopefully, we'll have good weather.
We also have 2 cats and a dog, just so ya know.
Baltimore is about 30 mins. from my house, about 40 mins. from Tate. By the time you park and walk to venues, let's say an hour. D.C. is a 40 min. drive or 20 mins. to New Carrolton Metro, then another 25 mins to The Mall.
As far as movies go, let's just wait and see. I have Kill Bill Vols. I and II. No car chases, but still quite interesting. There's also a Blockbuster a mile from my house.
I think the weather's going to be a factor, obviously, so be flexible....I intend to be.

Even more fun if we could make an 'all day' MINI meet out of it!

I wanted to keep those who are attending up to date.
Unfortunately, they're tearing up the deck of the Spa Creek bridge. This is the only way to get to Adam's Ribs from downtown Naptown. Traffic goes from nightmare to impossible.
However, there is an alternate way to get to A.R. I have a map in a PDF format that I can email to any and all who want it. If I can figure out where to post it so one can link directly to it, I will do so ASAP.
Please try to be punctual. I know that that might be difficult to do, but if we can all get there at 7pm, then it's more likely we'll sit in one room together.

Is there a bar in the restaurant or across the street/next door where we could hang out so we can go a little early to be sure we're on time?

OK, I put the PDF with the map and directions on both MINI yahoo groups in their respective Files sections, so y'all can access the info there. If there are any problems with access, please email me directly: kgdblu@speakeasy.org and I will try to help.
This gonna be fun, you guys!

Bruce, I had you down already

John, sorry you can't make it

Have 17 folks to date RSVP'd for this event. The restaurant has already been given a head count - but we padded the numbers a little bit- so if there is anyone else thinking about coming out please e mail as soon as you can!

Jen
