Go Kart vs Clubman
Yeah, it was pretty durn stoopid, but you're right, that race was AWESOME!! And it was nice to hear the comments of the Clubman driver. If I were a pro driver, I think I'd have said exactly the same as he did!!
If you follow his suggestions you end up with just any old car, all the goofy stuff is what makes the MINI the MINI
I still think the MINI interior looks more like a concept interior than one you would ever find in production
I'm just wondering how an R50/R53 would have done given the smaller/lighter platform.....still very impressive ! I'll bet the MINI would get its clock cleaned on an outdoor kart track vs a shifter kart !

Yeah I think the whole point was that the Clubman is still a MINI. If you go mucking around with the interior, it's not a MINI anymore, is it? It's the gadgets and the old school switches that give the car part of its appeal, IMO. If they took his advice, it would just be, what, a small Toyota Corolla?
Glad to see he got put in his place, though! The professional driver seemed highly pleased with the MINI. I wish they'd offered the Clubman option in '05 when I got my MINI. Took a look at one last time I went by the dealership and it's pretty hot. An extra 9 inches of space would mean a lot when I need to go to Home Depot!

but what do i know...i own a crv
Who uses toggle switches nowadays ?
Toy-yoda stole the speedo and really the Mini idea with the Yarus - but they missed the whole point....it ain't a MINI.
MINI (min'e) - Defined as a compact car with the four wheels placed on each of the extreme corners. Small traverse engine (sometimes pressurized
) Interior accommodates 4 British adults (Generally a wee bit smaller than most Americans) Must be handcrafted by highly skilled British craftsmen in Oxford,England (BMW parts allowed) Excellent suspension promotes "spirited" driving while the cute yet very cool looks make it desirable by everyone.
Goofy switches, huge speedos (the measuring kind, not the ones you wear) burbly exhaust, funky interior lights, brash and sometimes garish color (flags as long as they're from the UK
) racing stripes, huge wheels and tiny tires, rows of fog/driving lights, MINI logo a/c controls, and very starnge owners - what could be better ?

You're right about the review!! I guess this guy was too young to ever know about all the different types of Mini in the 1960's including the Mini Traveler which was the inspiration for the MINI Clubman!
