[Sat, July 5th] Capital Driving Club's Autox Event, Frederick, MD

The Capital Driving Club autocrossing event will be held at Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, Md.

Harry Grove Stadium
21 Stadium Dr, Frederick, MD

There were 10+ MINIs registered during the past events. They did really great job going against the world.

Please come and join us for a fun day(s). You don't have to race to enjoy.

Hang out, talk cars and watch MINIs and other cars being pushed to the limit is fun already.

For the one who's interested to have fun running (and is not a CDC member), they will open for register in less than week or so.

For the first timer, here is the FAQ. this will answer most of your question.

Looking forward to meet some of us there.

Now Accepting New Memberships

We are now taking new members for the July 5th and 6th events. Depending on how many members we get, we may have to freeze membership after these events.
I'm guessing that once we go back on the membeship freeze, we won't open up membership until summer 2009.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me.

Would it possible to have all MINIs placed in the same heat? That would be really fun.

I was there,........ to watch (in my wife RSX) for about 15 minutes. I saw a silver Lotus Elise, he is pretty quick.

I wish I could make it too, but.......duty call.

I was there Sat morning and all day Sunday. I saw you were signed up to drive Sunday. Four MINI's ran Sat and only two of us on Sunday.

I was working the course when the silver Elise was running. He did ok, but needed better tires. He swapped his stock A048's for F1 GSD3 (bleh). Did you see the red Noble run?? He was in that heat.

I saw the red Noble wait in line for his turn. I didn't stay very long so I didn't see his run.

Looking forward to see more MINIs on July 5th.

I did, I parked at the lot's entrance (blocking the entrance, actually ). Stay there for like 15 minutes.

45 seconds per run times 10 cars per heat means you were there long enough to see each car run three times. and you missed the Noble and the purple MINI? You also missed my car in line? It doesn't add up man....I don't think you were there :P

Next time I might have to take my self portrait to proof that I was there.

I don't know but you can ask a white rep. Cobra if he remember a silver RSX parked blocking the lot entrance when he was trying to get in on Sun or not.

I'll stop by and hang out for a bit. I'm not quite ready to race my clubman, but it sounds like an unbiased third party needs to be there with a camera to document who really shows up.

I'm only giving Chris a hard time because he always signs up to drive but never shows up to drive. I believe he was there, but he must have been watching the traffic on the highway because it's hard to miss the red Noble M400 running, especially when it spun into the grass in the afternoon

well, it wasn't the owner driving - he let others take it for a spin (literally). that spin was due to threshold braking, not getting silly on the skinny pedal (mid-engine cars and braking and turning don't always result in a thing of beauty )

And if anyone is looking for something to do in Frederick after the autocross:

Saturday the 5th is First Saturday. This month’s theme is Great American Main Street Celebration.
Celebrate Downtown Frederick’s Great American Main Street distinction on Saturday, July 5th from 5 - 9pm. Enjoy more than 10 old-fashioned game stations including hula-hoops, watermelon seed spitting and more. The King, Elvis Presley, also will make a visit to Downtown Frederick for FREE pictures with the masses. Live music and more throughout the evening!

Thanks for the info. It's really worth to check out.

At the autox, there are 7 MINIs signed up to go against the world . As far as I know, the super fast purple MINI will be there as well (he will be on the first heat).

It's always a thrill to watch him autox his purple MINI.

MrEZ and our elite female driver, Lastrega, will be on the second heat with me.

Looking forward to see some of you there to hang out with us.
