[Sat, July 5th] Capital Driving Club's Autox Event, Frederick, MD
Good news for "just a MINI". CDC has recently comes up with the new serie "small bore", which will include MINI Cooper (non S). This will be very competitive serie and really fun to watch.
We currently have a vintage small bore series but currently have only one participant (Sean Birger). Alex Redding suggested that his MGB should be included, and others felt that the vintage part should be taken away (my original intent was to make a cheap as possible series).
Since one can buy a Miata, in many cases, cheaper than a Sprite or MGB and that the normally aspirated Miata is about the same as Joe Macinnes’ Sprite, we will change the vintage small bore series to the “Small Bore Series.”
This series, as before, will use raw times with no indexing, dropping the 4 lowest event points for each participant.
The cars eligible are the following with stock blocks, and normally aspirated:
Sprites
Midgets
Austin Mini (original Mini)
MGA
MGB
Triumph Spitfire
1.6 and 1.8 Miatas (no turbo, no superchargers)
1.8 VW Sciracco
1.8 Honda Civic (no turbo, no supercharger, original block and displacement)
1.6 BMW Mini (normally aspirated, not the Cooper S)
1st Generation RX7 12A motor only, stock motor only with stock exhaust, non-turbo, non-supercharger (no GSL or GSL-SE cars)
Any other car normally aspirated and under 1.8 liter can request to be added to the list.
Here’s the end of year prizes.
First Place: Trophy + Season Pass
Second Place: Trophy + 8 Free CDC Autocross Event Passes
Third Place: Trophy + 4 Free CDC Autocross Event Passes
Forth Place: Trophy + 2 Free CDC Autocross Event Passes

I'm only giving Chris a hard time because he always signs up to drive but never shows up to drive. I believe he was there, but he must have been watching the traffic on the highway because it's hard to miss the red Noble M400 running, especially when it spun into the grass in the afternoon

NO WAY
I was anywhere near spinning off into the grass, and you know it. Anyway, I'm glad you're having fun with the club, and if you're not sure who I am, then I'll be sure you know at the next event.
You're signing up for the 20th, right?
That was me driving the Noble. It was my first time even being inside the car, and let's just say I wasn't exactly given the details about how much power comes on how fast. I was going into the slalom section coming out of the left sweeper; when I was just beginning my left into right transition, I had it floored and all that power came on so fast there was no way I could correct it, and I immediately spun to the right. I'm not sure what "threshold braking" you're referring to. I didn't brake until halfway through the spin. Also, there's

And, no, I'm skipping the 20th.....I'm done with long days and only six runs. I'll do the test and tunes like on this past Sunday where we got ten runs in by 3pm.
