[Thurs, August 14th] Amusement Park Day @ Six Flags

I think last year there was a Kings Dominion Day. Has this been discussed for this year at all? I'd be up for KD or Six Flags some weekday. Anyone else interested?

UPDATE: See Calendar Page for Latest Info

You can RSVP here

Since both park are south of DC, could this be coupled with the GWR500 some how?

Just a thought.

Theme parks sound like a good idea! Six Flags is a lot closer, probably has more water rides, and might be a terrific place to cool off without driving for two hours.

+1 on the weekday. Weekends might be just way too crowded with kids. How soon can we make it happen?

Another +1 for a weekday, although it likely means Dave won't be able to go.

I don't go on a lot of rides at amusement parks, but I'm good at holding stuff for people.

KD is popular because of The Italian Job rollercoaster I do like both though. I will need about a week of advance notice. And, we should pick a day when this hot weather breaks and look for a cloudy day

Is the park open to general public on this day?

Was just looking at the DCMM calendar and July is pretty well packed. But, August is wide open. How about an amusement park day on a weekday sometime during the 1st or 2nd week of August?

I would go on a weekday during the second week of August. The first week would be tough for me.

Okay, let's set a tentative date for Thursday, August 14th at Six Flags (unless you all prefer King's Dominion). Hey Maxi, if you make me event coordinator for a few hours, I can put it up on the calendar

Ahem.......

I can not make you, but I will definitely vote for you as an event coordinator. Not only for a few hours, but for good.

You're the man for the job, indeed.

8/14 works for me. Parking is a little expensive. Any interest in meeting somewhere and carpooling? Or is that just blasphemy since this is a car club?

Right now, Six Flags is having a 2-for-1 ticket sale if you buy online! If you're thinking about going perhaps now is the time to buy. But, please note you have to buy in pairs. So, if you're a single ticket, let us know so maybe somebody can buy the 2nd one and save you 50%!

I also highly recommend the Flash Pass. For $15 you can take the express lines and bypass much of the waiting. I will be getting this since I prefer riding and not waiting in line

Parking is $15 for standard lots or $20 for "preferred parking" which puts you in the closest lot to the entrance. I'd be willing to carpool and go with the preferred parking if anyone is interested, but my Subaru can only seat 3 others comfortably.

I looked into group rates, but we need at least 15 people to get the ticket price down to $19.99.

FWIW, they also offer a seasonal pass for $49.99 which includes some free friend passes on select days and a coupon book.
