How do all you city dwellers wash your car?

Hi guys,

I just moved in to Eastern Market and I'm wondering how the heck do I wash my car (without going to some automatic car wash). When I had a driveway, I was addicted to Zaino, but I fear I may have to give up on detailing my car myself. Any tips or tricks from others living in the city?

Thanks!

P.S. Membership to DCMM is coming soon...just trying to decide between a single membership or a couples one (my girlfriend is coming around )

Here is one idea if you don't have access to water.

Welcome..welcome..welcome..

I'm not familiar with the area (eastern market), but I'm pretty sure you will be able to find a self car wash in old town Alexandria area.

By the way, we will have a big event coming up. It's our annual picnic & run. It will be held on June 1st, north of Germantown.

Please come and join us. It will be fun.

You get them from OctaneGuy here on NAM.

I was in that position at one point and time and used to use a bucket and a 2 gallon pump up sprayer like you would use to spray chemicals in. You can get a cheap one for about $10-$15 and worked like a charm.

I'm lucky enough to have access to water and a hose behind my building. When that fails, I wash Cricket on the street. It can be frustrating, as I have to wait for the space in front of our place to become available, but it usually does. I also have one of the 2 gallon sprayers in the event she needs a bath in the garage. You are more than welcome to come by and use my facilities! I live near Adams Morgan.

And you are better off with the couples membership!

I've used my Nomad several times since I bought it from OG and have to sa, it's one of the best toys I've bought in ages.

I did find out that I'm not supposed to wash my car on site at the apartments I live at - so the last couple of times, have done so inside my garage, with the Nomad and single bucket. Great way to beat the heat too!

good! i will be taking you up on that. The other day I was washing my mini in front of my condo, and the condo association manager walked up and told me i was in violation of the condo association rules! So basically, I have no option to park my car in a garage, as there are none at my condo building, and no way to wash my car without going to a carwash place. I have been to Mr.Wash, and Embassy Car Wash, and I really don't like either. They always miss lots of areas on the car, and never fully clean the inside. not to mention they are expensive.

So, i would definitely be trying to take you up on that offer. I am able to keep the inside of my mini perfectly clean, but the outside is in DESPERATE need of cleaning. Let me know if you were being serious about that post...lol...cuz my mini needs it!

At the Mr. Wash in Vienna I've actually seen them pick up rags off the ground and continue to use them.

I wish there was a self-service car wash in/near Vienna

thanks for posting that. Definately wont be going there!
oh, and i think i saw you driving somewhere in vienna a while back, cant remember when or exactly where either. i see too many minis around these days, its hard to keep track of them all...i live in oakton, right on the border of vienna, so i will probably see you around again somewhere.

That7guy, are you gonna be free anytime this weekend? We can wash both our mini's.
