Confessions of a Zaino-holic
Confessions of a Zaino-holic
Hi. I'm Ed and I'm a Zaino-holic
<group says, "Hi Ed">
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I have sinned
I have succumbed to the seductive siren of silky, slippery shine. I have allowed myself to be enticed by the ease of application, the long lasting and amazingly deep shine, and the appreciative comments of on-lookers and picture-takers
<group gasps in disbelief
>
Even worse, I am a pusher
I have shared the forbidden joys of the cult of Zaino with friends, family and perhaps the most respected of all groups, DC Metro MINIs
How can I make amends?
<members of the group say, "You must share the secrets with us" and starts chanting, "Show Us, Show Us"
>
So in response to popular request, I will be conducting a Secret Society of Zaino initiation ceremony at my house on (date to be announced, probably this coming Saturday, April 5th if the weather looks good) and will accept the first four DCMM MINIs to sign up. Space is somewhat limited so don't wait to get your name on the list.
To reserve a spot, please PM me and I'll send you directions. The passphrase is: 'OMG that's AMAZING'. And be sure to ask about the secret handshake when you arrive for the party
Requirements: either bring your own Zaino products, or chip in $25 and use mine. Bring lots of good soft cotton towels that won't scratch your paint, beverages of choice, and expect to have fun
I'll provide the Dawn, water, buckets and a garage to work in. We might order pizzas for lunch, or could also have a pot-luck, to be determined by the respondents. I heard a rumor about some kind of new noodle dish

I'm not sure I can make it...I might have to go to PA on Sat.
My car's hasn't been waxed in 2 1/2 years...I had a 5 year protectant, finish, sealer...whatever one wants to call it, put on..well..2 1/2 years ago.. All I need to do is wash it and re-WOW the black trim and she looks pretty good. I'm not a car detail kinda person in case ya haven't noticed

Even if I don't go to PA, I have to help paint a bathroom next weekend.

Lots of good info there, and recommendations for product and application techniques, if you're curious. This is by far the easiest, shiniest product I've ever used. No machines required (or recommended). Just easy on, easy off. We'll build up several layers (exact procedure is a secret...SHHHH), and Soulfire will be dazzling!
Ahoy, Matey. Heave-to! Set sail for Edgewater and we'll scrape the barnacles off your MINI, tend to your brightwork, and she'll be ship-shape and Bristol fashion in no time! I may even teach you how to tie the world's fastest bowline (no kidding, it's easy and handy for attaching jib and spinnaker sheets!)

I haven't used this product yet but I can vouch for how great it looks. I watched a couple of weeks ago as Ed helped Laura with her car and you can really see, and feel, the results.
If you've ever wanted to know the secrets of detailing, Ed's the guy to turn to.

I suspect the supreme mistress(es) of shine are more appeased by our dedicated efforts to worship them than by the chemical sacrifices we choose to place on our MINI altars
So, my dear friends, use the chemical and labor intensive methods of worshipping at the 'shine' of your choice. If you'd like a shortcut on the path, join us this Saturday
We still have a few spots left. (er.... make that SLOTS)

Yes, Master. I bow to your omniscience
Perhaps Confucius would say that it is better to actually walk on the path towards enlightenment, than to postpone it because it seems too difficult.
Or that two beings may reach the same destination by traveling different paths
Namaste
Afterthought: Perhaps we could rename this thread to: Zen and the art of car finish maintenance

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this Saturday (or Sunday, either btw) because of work. But, I am definitely interested in learning at the feet of the shine masters. I will have to get together with one of you folks on one of the upcoming runs, so that I can finally give Ocius II the good wash and shine that he deserves.

You have shared excellent insight in seeking higher knowledge. Perhaps the Master of Klasse (and aficionados of all the other wonderful products) will consent to conduct classes in the proper rites? Just as there are many paths, there are many teachers of the dharma. Perhaps the other teachers will share their knowledge with the tribe?

Our only concern at this moment is the weather forecast. I suspect we'll make a final decision on Wednesday, and I've asked MaxiCooper to do his weather forecast magic to brighten things up.
<Group chants, 'Show us the sun, show us the sun. Come on Maxi, show us the sun'>
Weather will be an issue. I can accommodate two cars in my garage at a time if it's damp, but it would be much more fun if we could do this outside... the results are so much more spectacular in the sunshine
