Found a hole burned in the bottom edge of drivers seat back!

Sorry to sorta double post, but wanted all my DCMM friends to to keep a eye out for this and you might want to inspect whenever you do you car cleaning etc. I started a thread here in stock problems about a hole I found burned in the bottom edge of my seat back. Apparently from the seat heater. Absolute verdict out till Monday which is the first that MoS can look at it.

Its underneath and you 'd never see it where it happened if I hadn't found evidence. The seat heater worked last time I used it about 2 weeks ago. Needless to say I've not tried it since I found this. From searching I've only found a couple instances mentioned on line so it's rare but if you didn't know where to watch you'd likely not find it.

Just something to be aware of.

I wondered how long it'd take for that question to come up. Sounds like a post I'd make. I'm sure. The seat cover that was on the seat only has a bit of damage on the underside. Hence it wasn't a 'emission' problem. Sorry to shoot down your theory. It also means that it wasn't some jerk sticking a cigarette in between the seat when it was parked. That would have burned the outside of the seat cover of course.

I know. I couldn't have helped myself if the shoe had been on the other foot.

to be honest, this sort of thing doesn't surprise me. I swear it seems like my seat heaters get SO hot when they are on. I can't even put them on high, the low setting is as much as I can stand.

It turns out there is a TSB where they can put a adapter in line with the heater. One part # is to make them run cooler, one to make them run warmer, based on the owners complaint...

This isn't a matter of taste in my case. I have cinders and melted foam.
