Body Shop recommendations?

Hi All

This is my first post to this forum, although I've enjoyed reading and appreciated recommendations for a while now.

I've got a 2005 Cooper S. Some unknown SOB tagged the left corner of my rear bumper in the parking deck earlier this week. The clear coat separated up for a section about 3x3, the paint underneath has cracked and chipped, and there's some creasing to the bumper. Most disturbing to me is that there is a gap showing on that side in the wheel well where the bumper meets the wheel well...if that makes sense.

I need to get this looked at. Any recommendations around the Woodbridge area? I have been less than thrilled with MOS. I received a mailer from a place called FunKtion Auto, and am thinking of calling them. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks-
Traci L.

Just got my car back from Ashburn Collision - they did a pretty good job. Very minor flaws considering the amount of guardrail carnage caused. Only drawback - It took two months to get my car done.

HOLY CR*P. I'm thinking my insurance company wouldn't pay for a loaner for that long!

I saw the photos of your squished cooper :( Did they ever find the driver of the other car? Glad you weren't hurt.

I have to say that the service at Ashburn is *NOT* all that. You tell them what your schedule restraints are and then they do whatever the h*ll they want. Still don't have my car back and tres annoyed with the front end - communication 101 classes are in order.

As with most automotive shops, their speed is inversely proportional to your schedule.

Did they give you an time estimate up front?

Yeah, thanks. I'm sure you are right. Apologies for my extremely frustrated post.

Yes, I was told it would be done Wed, possibly Thurs. So on Thurs when I was told Fri, and had made plans to go away for the weekend, it was problematic. It was doubtful that my insurance company would have paid for a rental to sit in the driveway while I was out of town, so that I could pick up the car on Monday.

I have to shoulder some of the responsibility for the tremendous inconvenience this has been. I thought this shop was the best place for my car. Next time I will know not to pick a body shop that is so far away, in a bad traffic pattern, who does not have customer friendly hours. When I told them that Friday was a problem due to the holiday plans, I was eventually told I could pick the car up between 4:30 and 5 Thursday evening. This would have caused me to miss about 3 hours of work and would have had me trying to come down 28 at 5 pm. Husband volunteered to pick up car Fri am before we left town, bless his heart.

Bumper looks really good. Unfortunately, there are now swirl marks all in the clear coat of the hood. I'd asked them to look at *something* that dripped on it from an overhead pipe in the underground garage and didn't easily wash off. I guess they took a buffer to it. I was pretty upset about it on Friday but it's only noticeable in bright sun. Still... lesson learned.

So, anybody know a good body shop around Woodbridge? LOL-

LOL? Really?

Not LOL, but rather its opposite...I believe the web acronym you're searching for is MUMB - Muttering Under My Breath, which I think I just invented, at least according to wikipedia. This could have many potential uses, not the least of which is when used in "live speech" applications it can dopple-gang for "Mum's the word," listener none the wiser.

So, MUMB's the word, you collision specialists!

I've got nothing constructive to add, sorry, it's just the end of the work day and I'm feeling plucky.
