Howdy!
My name is Laura Jane, I used to pay dues and belong to the club and stuff but I fell off the face of the earth...
I remember everyone loved a parade so when my friend from the Clarendon Alliance asked if I'd like to be in the annual Mardi Gras thing I figured I'd see if anyone out there would be interested. It's a real casual fun and wacky time. Parade route is a straight shot from the Courthouse Metro area to the Clarendon Metro. Start time is 8pmish Tuesday Feb 5th. Car and people costumes are of course encouraged! Anyone out there wanna?
Oh and anyone with a convertible is invited to drive the King and Queen. She'd need a definite on the convertible by Wed Thursday at the latest..
Lemme know what you think, or if you have any questions. Mni Purl would love to look at some of her cousins!

Sounds like fun.

Could you provide more detail?
How to register, meeting place/time, and restriction, and so on?

This is very interesting indeed.

Thank you.

Yeah, I like the idea.

Actually, we may add a dinner meet up before the parade. Lots of good restaurant in the area though.

Sounds like we just show up, no registration needed. If there is enough interest I'll scout out a meeting spot and official time. Just wanted to get an idea of interest before I did any work on it!
The poster says Mini of Sterling is a sponsor for the parade I'll have to find out what that means....

I think that I can do it !! Clarendon is close enough to Capitol Hill that I can actually go thru VA ..

I have a convertible and if the King is a good looking guy he might ride with me .. in any case we have two convertibles and have them washed for the parade.

Perfect!!!..

We can arrange something before the parade to gather everyone and go from there.

Best to know in advance the time that they would like us to be there and our position in the parade.

I'm excited already.

Could we have a coffee meet or early dinner meet of some kind before the parade?

If you are nterested to join the event, please have your name on the list. RSVP

I participated in this parade when I worked for Zipcar. It was a really fun time! I would recommend having a lot of beads. The first time I did it, I ran out and thought I was going to be attacked. Also, you definitely need to have your group on the lineup list. Clarendon is pretty laid back, but the Arlington County PD is not when it comes to stuff like this.

Thanks for the heads up.

Any good place around the area, with nice parking spaces, for us to hang out before the parade?

Need some advise from the local.

The Market Common (shopping "mall" and apartment building - I used to live there) has a couple of restaurants and a huge parking garage. I'm sure we could all park together on the top level. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of The Market Common.
Tandoori Nights
Bertucci's
Cheesecake Factory
Whitlow's on Wilson
Delhi Club
Hard Times Cafe

I got an idea ......

We can hang out at Murky Coffee first. Murky, our new member, owns and runs the place. We can take that oppotunity to visit his place as well.

We can meet there at 5.30 or 6pm. and go from there.

Aah missed your post, sorry. Hey wait just a minute. Is the Queen a Queen or a QUEEN? I'm not so sure about this.

I'm waiting to order any until we get a confirmation that we are participating in the parade. This place does not allow returns.

So, this sounds very fun, however, at basically rush-hour, does anybody know if it is realistic to get from Annapolis to Clarendon/Meeting area before Parade start? I would really like to participate in this with everybody, however, I have class until 5:20-ish, meaning I can make it to rte. 50 in about ten minutes. Google maps says that it can take up to 1hr 20mins if there is traffic, however I have been in DC traffic before, and at times, you sit still for a long time.

I have a feeling that I would not be able to join people for dinner/coffee being that if Google maps is correct, I would maybe have a window of about 20 minutes.... But then there is the setup that has to occur before the parade; I'm not sure how long is needed, and how soon we need to actually be in place and set up.

If anybody things that this is actually do-able, let me know, I would love to be able to participate, however I know that no one will be waiting if I don't make it in the thought amount of time. Thanks guys!

-Chase

If you leave Annapolis at 5.30pm you should be able to arrive in time for the line up. We will start line up at 7pm, and the parade will start at 8pm.

We will come against the outbound traffic, so it shouldn't be that bad.

Just my 2 cents.

I went on line and checked it. Orders MUST be submitted and paid within the next three hours in order to have the beads by Tuesday. Also having a commercial delivery with FEDEX will cost less and if we order 10 cases with shipping (ckd DC address) it will cost $ 36.02 per case
