[Sun, Mar 16th @ 10.15am] St Paddy's Day "Parade" Run
What??!! (just read this thread for the first time) I didn't realize I was such a blabber
. Half the time, Eric's telling me what to say! Sure, I'll be a middleman relayer if you want, but I see that there's already a volunteer. I'll try to keep quiet during the run

Anyone on the radio should be in a convertible (red ones work very well...)

Radio's come in pairs... Eric should have his own
Keep those forecasts coming, Chris !! Every time you post one, the weather improves !
TOPLESS MOTORING IS GETTING CLOSER TO BEING REALITY !!! And if I were motoring alone on this one, it would be considered a done deal.

I am definitely coming up with the new MINI (well, it's a year old now... but seems new because of it's JCW parts...) bringing Rachael too.
Any chance someone could post GPS coordinates or a real address that we can poke into the NUVI?
Whoops. click on Map and I find this:
4300 Montgomery Rd, Ellicott City, MD
(410) 203-9001
I guess that works!
The route will be very similar to last year's. We'll just make a slight detour to the restaurant which is on Rt 32, just off the intersection with Rt 97.
To add a little more fun to the event, there will be a small, SURPRISE gift for the MINI owner with the best decorated MINI for the event. Yeah, you BRG owners are at an advantage here.

Oy... I'm not the computer genius that Feedback (Peter) is (he's the one that created that map.
What I did was list each turn on a Word document and the corresponding mileage after each turn. Doubt that would help you much for studying the route. Probably just confuse the hell outta ya.
Only a couple changes from the map posted in the thread.
I eliminated a few turns when we get into Eldersburg. We'll go down 26 to Wards Chapel Road. We'll turn left there and then connect to Deer Park Rd.
And then after lunch when we get near Westminster, we're not going into town with a group this large. We'll stay south of Westminster, go from Rt32 to Kate Wagner Road where we'll connect with Chapel Rd and then Medford Rd.
Everything else is per the map on the link. Does that help ???

You're just being nice. Hey, where's Maxicooper with his weather update ? Hope it's better than what they're reporting now on Weather.com ! They're saying cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain/snow mix.
if we say it wont rain, and everyone believes it wont rain, then it wont rain. or at least we wont know it because we believe that it isnt raining. or something like that. doublethink. anyone read 1984?
I like it !! What it looks like, rain overnight and ending as rain mixed with wet, heavy snow that probably won't stick to the ground on Sunday morning. Appears it will end before the run, but the roads will be wet.
Wet roads = FILTHY MINIs. Filthy MINIS = Not such great pics.
buuut, as long as its not too bad, wet roads = slippery MINIs which = easy oversteer which = fun. of course due caution must be exercised. and of course no one would try this because that would be reckless.
Even so, i would rather have dry roads. Cuz theres always a chance to screw up, and we definitely dont want any damaged MINIs.

Snow is not going to stick.. if it snows at all. Only a 30 percent chance. It'll very likely be done before we start the run. It'll be fine for driving, Katie.
Don't be late, everyone !!!! I'm going to start briefing everyone at 10:30, SHARP. I want to be on the raod NLT 10:45.
Plus, I need to judge the St Paddy's Day decorations before we hit the road !!

A Dark Day
Unfortunately I have to drop out of the run and my role as the radio relay. Yesterday was a sad, sad day for my MINI. A defective parking garage gate fell on top of my car while I was driving through.
I am alright, but I can't say the same for my MINI.
I am currently pressing the negligent property manager to pay for the damages.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe run.
