I don't think Snell = SA2005. I believe at SCCA auto-x we checked everyone's helmets for a DOT & Snell sticker, but did not require SA2005.
SA2005 is a snell standard/designation according to: http://www.smf.org/

I was hoping to have new bilstein sport shocks by event day (the car is just a bit too bouncy right now)...but bilstein doesn't have any for the r56 yet I was told there is something at the research level in Germany but nothing would be available here until sometime next year at the earliest...sigh. guess I'll have to see what else is out there that offers the same level of quality.

Well, many of the more serious Mini modders and racers recommend the Cross coilovers over the Bilstein. Not sure if you've read up on the Cross coilovers here on NAM, but there are many threads. I don't think I've read a single bad opinion about them.

yep...I read up on them a little and noticed people were happy with them... However, I decided not to do coilovers since my car really won't see the track much and I figured it was overkill (and cost was an issue too). So I just went with the eibach springs which I am happy enough with but the ride is just a bit bouncier than I'd like with the stock struts. I'd like to tighten that up a bit and the more reading I do, the more options I realize there are but most start involving lots of money (and might be overkill for a street car).

I've used magnetics and they hold on, also the RF100 is snell approved so out work out for the track also.

Less than 2 weeks to go I cannot wait to get on the track and play with the Mini. I guess at some point we need to nail down what groups are going to caravan and the logistics of where/when we can meet.

The Texas Steakhouse and Saloon is a fun joint. Peanut shells on the floor in the Saloon. Food was good.

I know most of the hotels have a "free" continental breakfast, but I am heading to Biscuitville in the morning. My mouth starts watering every time someone says Biscuitville. http://www.biscuitville.com

Hmmmm!

Start watering

"Biscuitville, Biscuitville, Biscuitville"

Sounds a whole lot better than a Continental breakfast

i'm with you there, i haven't had little ceaser's in years. probably more than 5 years ago. and sonic, maybe once in my life when they still had one in waldorf, which i can hardly remember. who's doing the little ceaser's run?

also, do you mind if i check out your sound system? i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that you upgraded it, and that;s something i'm definitely going to have to do. would be nice to actually hear one of my choices. what did you end up using?

I can't believe I've been oblivious to this so long. I haven't even read the whole thread yet, just jumped ahead to the end to say as long as it's not too late to sign up, I'm in! Now to catch up and (hopefully) sign up.

Sure...anyone is welcome to check it out. It's not perfect but definitely a huge improvement from the base system. The bf and a good friend installed Infiniti Kappa Perfect 6.5" separates in the front doors, an older mtx amp under the passenger seat and an older 12" cerwin vega sub (both of which I had used in previous cars). I don't have any rear speakers right now and it sounds fine. My main goal was to get a better and clearear (less tinny) sound from the highs, less muddled mids and more powerful, warm and deep bass (due to the type of music I normally listen too). The current setup works well for that but I'd like to replace the sub and amp at some point (esp as the sub is taking up half of my "boot"). Having the amp under the passenger seat has worked very well!

Did they happen to say how many slots they still had open?

There were exactly zero slots left when I hung up the phone. In fact, the only reason they had an open slot today was because someone called and asked to withdraw due to a death in the family -- they told him they would see if they could find someone to take his spot moments before they found my email asking for same.

I held off adding my name to the RSVP thread until I knew I was actually on the official list, but I'll go there right now.

I plan on taking the more scenic/direct route using 29. I am not a big fan of either 95 or 81. I am thinking about leaving out of Chantilly about 10am and getting to Danville early enough to chill out by the pool maybe.
