I'm still doing what I love, but I'm gonna miss that big fat account for sure.

Thank you for your generousity.

Its kind of shock losing an account by surprise.

If I could go, you all don't have to worry about the images. I'm more than happy to take care of that. I love to cover action scene !!!!

I will definitely have to call off on this one.

Budget cut is one of the things, but also I will have a meeting with a potential customer on the day as well. Wish me luck.

I can't go to VIR

Please let me know if you know of someone who can take my spot at VIR on Monday. I cannot attend because My MCS is at MINI of Sterling with a bunch of problems (fuse box, aux fan, strut tower mushrooming) that won't be fixed until next week. I called Phil Wicks and he said I can transfer my registration to someone who can attend but I will need to know ASAP since he's leaving for VIR Saturday morning.

I wish I could attend but it looks like I'll have to miss it this time. I thought about begging someone who's attending to share his/her car at VIR but I think it's better if someone else can go instead.

If anyone is interested, please send me a message ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Mark

I saw on Phil Wicks website that they do have MINIs you could rent for the day.....

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your car.

From what I hear, they have to know months in advance to reserve one for you...but you may want to ask Phil just in case.

Thanks for your thoughts. I had asked Phil about renting a MINI but, not surprisingly, his rentals have been booked for months. He said people have rented MINIs -- believe it or not, from Zipcar -- for his events . I thought about that for a second but I just don't want to risk driving a zipcar down to VIR and back (I don't even know if tracking a Zipcar is allowed under Zipcar's terms and conditions). I have a second car but I can't bring it either because it's not a MINI and this is a MINI-only event.

Have a great time everyone. I went to VIR 2 years ago and it's a fantastic track.

Have you thought about posting in a few other forums about a last-minute opening? You might catch the eye of someone who isn't reading this thread. Maybe even think about a new thread in the DCMM forum.....this one has been around for quite a while and most folks are probably ignoring it by now.

This is absolutely not allowed under Zipcar's Membership Agreement. I used to work there.

Any chance they could hook you up with a loaner?

Technically none of our MINIs are allowed in the track as per our insurance agreement !!

It looks like I might be able to leave for VIR on Saturday.

Monday - 97 degrees and mostly sunny! The good news is the humidity is suppose to be low. Hopefully there will be a breeze.

VIR can be torture on a hot day even for spectators. The paddock area is concrete and white stones which reflects and intensifies the sun. The only shady area is by the snack bar where there is a grassy area with picnic tables, but I don't think we will be able to park the cars in the shade.

Bring sunblock and plenty of water. I'm going to bring a pop-up canopy for some shade. I think there will be room for it.

See you all Sunday at the Tech or the HIX.

We have a pop up canopy, too. We got it at ****'s Sporting Goods for $50 and it folds up small enough to fit in back.

I'll just be happy if it doesn't rain!

At work so I don't have time to research this yet (and I really should know this) but what is the recommended tire pressure for this event (or track events in general) for the R56 (non-runflat summer tires)?

According to the PWDA Basic Rule Book:

"Tires should be inflated to maximum according to car manufacturer's recommendation."

So, the magic number (at least for the stock tires) is in the manual.....I'd just list it here, but it varies a bit depending on which size wheels and tires you have.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to how I should interpret that rule for aftermarket wheels (7.5 x 16) and tires (225/45-16)?

Lovely news, especially since my A/C finally gave up all remaining pretense of being functional today (and no chance of a repair before the weekend).
