Are these badges (when they will come out- eventually-) sold to MINI owners, only?

I am not interested in the badges but as a club member I find surprising that the Board cannot come up with an answer and make its members happy, after all having a badge on the MINI is promoting the club and won't cost a penny to DCMM.
I wonder how other clubs were able to put their heads together and create badges..

Not really sure why a non-MINI/Mini owner would want one, but I don't see why not.

I never posted anything about the Board not coming up with the answer, we are just hashing out last minute details.

I am not sure how other clubs do their business, perhaps you should ask them.

With all we are doing outside of the club in our "other" lives as well as the CPA's, whom we have been seeking the advice from, things take time people, seesh, give a friggin break, ok!

There are more hoops to go through with being a non-profit organization and we want to MAKE SURE that we are above the book in promoting our club and selling items with the club's logo etc...

I don't know how many times I have to say this. FRIGGIN PATIENCE PLEASE:impatient

What are the non-profit rules for selling these items? http://dcmetrominis.org/?page_id=15 . I think that while we need to wait for the legalization issues to be resovled, the rest of the DCMM merchandise shouldn't be sold. Whats the difference between a t-shirt that bears the logo, which also advertises the club, and a grill badge that bears the logo as well?

After a long talk with a board member, I'm done pushing for the badges to be made. If any one wants them, you keep fighting for them. I'm done. I'd like to thank all who showed interest, and I'd like to thank the members of the board for all their hard work.

Does anyone have the round graphic that was distributed a while back when everyone was making the signature badges? I'm making my own grill badge because I'd really like to display it here in Hawaii. After I do it, I'll post my method if anyone else wants to do it.

Update-

It seems I can't do this without board permission... I'll update if and when I get permission.

Don't get your hopes up, atleast not for a speedy resolution, it'll probably take months, and since the club won't turn a big enough profit by this method, it will probably be denied.

I'm optimistic.... I don't look at this as a profit issue, its "a make it happen at actual cost for interested club members" item. Similar to a group buy, Dragon T-Shirt w/ Club Logo, Flags with Club Logo, SIG's on NAM, etc....

I hope that the delay is not because the Board is trying to manage what to do with a potential profit. The obvious and easy answer to that would be, don't make a profit. That's what makes my, do it myself effort, in my opinion, an easy one for the board to approve. It avoids any issues money at all.

Don't get dishearted, just try to find a way to do it.

Guys, chill out.

The problem is simple - up until now, most of the "official" items have either been sold via Cafe Press (without any updated involvement from us), or were organized by individual members of the club, without formal procedures.

What were trying to do here is establish a new way of handling swag that comes from us as a club, not anyone else. This is the first time we've done this in this fashion, and it will be a template for other swag in the future. Once we get this stuff sorted out, it will be much easier next time!

It's not really a profit issue now. We clearly intend to price it such that there's a little bit of "wiggle room" for unexpected situations, but we're not trying to maximize profit in any way. The problem now is really logistics.

We know you're getting tired of waiting, but we are doing the best that we can, considering we're 7 different people with 7 different lives, and this is a volunteer gig.

Active discussions are still in progress, and we hope to have it sorted out very soon.

So... CHILL!

(Sorry I just read the DPSM thread, couldn't help it )

We should all give the board time to work this out. I run a non-profit with 9 paid staff people and I can vouch for the fact that it can take a long time to sort this sort of stuff out - even with more resources than 7 volunteer board members.

I'm glad the club is taking the time to think everything through and do it correctly. Many all-volunteer organizations don't. It sounds like a necessary step in the maturation process of the organization. As DCMM continues to grow, we'll be particularly thankful that this was set up correctly to begin with. Thanks for sorting it all out.

jyarrow, Thank you very much for saying that. It has been rather frustrating I know to figure all this out, but progress is being made, and quickly too.

Edge is right, this is NOT just for one thing. We are new at being a not for profit organization, and besides making sure we aren't breaking any laws, we are crossing all t's and dotting all i's and are really trying to find a way to make this and future endevors work for the club.

I don't understand all this bickering, I don't know how many times I have to explain it. I guess I could say gee, you are lucky that we have taken such an interest in this and are going to make it work out for everyone, but I guess that would be too much.

Ok, can I get a raise of hands as to how many people are interested and how many you would want? I am just about ready for everything to be complete so we can go ahead with these.
