WOW! So far, we're having a good time in Oxford. Today, we drove by the MINI plant and saw the trucks leaving loaded with baby MINIs fresh from the birth canal

we also spotted a Clubman on the road in Woodstock, which is just North of Oxford. See pictures (Note: first is larger)

Hey, I'm trying to get Eric to get the new Clubman. So far, it's not happening. He's still set on a Mustang . Thanks for the pics! Glad you and Kattiya are having fun!! We hope to also see the Oxford Mini plant in a few weeks.

Your visiting MINI motherland and not going to the factory? Somebody tell me I am dreaming this! We did the factory tour in 05,loved every minute of it! Got our Checkmate in 06, did the last day of MTTS at Limerock.

I wonder what Mini will do to bring the Clubman to the US? Wonder what color the wife likes?

 

I'm sure Scavenger couldn't get a tour. They closed the Oxford Mini plant to tourists b/c of the new Mini Clubman for a few months. I myself tried to get a tour back in June for my trip coming up in 2 weeks (you have to schedule the tour 2-3 months in advance!), but they told me there were no tours till further notice. Get back to them in September...yeah right! So all we can hope for is a glimpse of the Mother Plant .

Sorry to hear that, I was not aware they had closed the factory to tours!

We really enjoyed our visit,we were the only ones that didn't own a Mini, many in our group had two! We did have a problem,we missed the morning tour as we had traffic issues on the M5, but they let us slip into the afternoon group. Wish they would do a "drive and ship" program, it would be assume to drive the clubman in Oxford then ship it home!

 

That's awesome! I see you spotted a MINI Clubman right behind a Ford Transit Van - bleech - be fortunate that you're not driving one of those.

 

Yep, same reason we couldn't do the tour. 'tis a shame, but we're within walking distance, so I'll probably see it more than once

That Ford Transit van can still lap the nurburgring in 10 min 8 seconds.

 

Maybe Eric needs a little convincing. If you want, I can give him a ride in my MINI. Maybe that will change his mind about the mustang.
