Call Carlos at Solar Solutions up in Laurel (he is a NAM vendor) and have a chat. He is excelent and does a fantastic quality job.

We have 18% on our front windows in Soulfire and 5% everywhere else, and like that. 5% is very dark but is very nice! I like the 18% for the front because it still offers lots of privacy but I can see ok (but I still have to roll the windows down in the dark to park or back up)

There will also be a weekend event at his place coming up in October between him and Mike from Aesthetic Creations... A great opportunity to have a nice weeend with DCMM peeps and get some work done!

Just have mine done today with Carlos.

35% all around and love it. Actually, it could have been better with 20%, but I don't want to get pull over often. (I have MD license plate, not FL. )

I got 20%. Not that it matters now, but you will not get pulled over for that in MD. If you are pulled over for something else and give the cop an attitude, they will add a ticket for the tint, though.

I recommend 35%.

The front side windows need to be 50% in Virginia to be legal. But, heard you can often get away with 35%.
I chose 50% because I have an astro black and thought the dark windows and car would be too overwhelming but I kind of regret it because sometimes you can't tell theres tint there at all.

I was going to go with 35% but when I saw it on cars in person, I felt it was too light. Still very easy to see inside and won't do much to relieve heat.

If you are in the MD area - i used CIC Performance in Gambrills/Crofton.

I got 20% all around and Limo tint on the moon roof.

Yes, the event in October will be a blast. I just talked with Mike today about plans for coming back east to see us. He just got back from MITM and needs to get caught up a bit with emails, etc, and will be posting soon for time slots/etc. Carlos will also be doing tint. Cecilia will be visiting both of them that weekend!

As others have said, Carlos is cool. I had the MINI done at HPR Customs in Glen Burnie

BTW, yes 35% is legal. However, that does NOT mean just adding 35% on top of the tint that might already be there if you want to be legal

Read here http://www.berwynheightspd.com/tinted%20windows.htm

"ALL vehicles come from the factory with a certain percentage of tinting incorporated into the glass. In most cases it blocks out approximately 20% of the available light, which means that 80% is still passing through. ...

An after market window tint film rated at 35% means that the film allows 35% of the available light to pass through, and blocks out 65%. ...

When you place a 35% window tint film over a vehicle window that is already blocking out 20% of the available light, you have now reduced the LTV to 28%, which is ILLEGAL! ...

(Windows that are tinted darker than 35% are very obvious to police officers.)"

FYI, FWIW, I had VA State Police test the tint on my stock MINI before tinting my windows. The stock tinting is 70%.

Stock windshield and window glass are slightly tinted in green. JustDandy is right, it's approximately to 70-80% tint.

What's it costing everyone to get tinted? I'd like to do both cars at 35%.

I have 35% done all around and the VA state police meter read 37%. Don't ask.

Check with Carlos @ Solar Solutions. I'm happy with the result.
With NAM discount, the price is $100.

Carlos did my car a few years ago... it's held up well and still looks awesome. If anyone is interested or will be in Norfolk, I'm structuring a local tintathon Aug. 26th. $100 for the car, $30 for sunroof, $15 for Windshield header or $30 for full windshield. We're very nearly full, so if there is enough interest, I can put something together for a second event rather easily. That said... Carlos in MD was great!

35% Suntek Carbon done by Carlos at Solar Solutions. I'm more than happy with it after paying $300+ each for Llumar Formula One on the last five cars we've owned.
