R56 Official Oxygen Blue Owners Club
Oh, I am....bought a round of fresh, hot tortillas at the ol' weekly NAM MINI convocation this morning.
Here's another bit of trivia for us lovers of Coopers....the 50th anniversary of the Mini, of course, is in 2009 and will be celebrated all year (get your anniversary car graphics ready those of you who like stickers). The exact date of the Mini launch was August 26th, 1959. I hope all MINI owners plan to celebrate as seems most fitting to you.
However, the Mini Cooper has yet another anniversary...it was launched on September 20, 1961. So in addition to the 2009 party, Cooper owners should brace themselves to represent in 2011!!!!
Oh, and MCS owners will just have to wait 'til 2013.
ps - if MINI doesn't come out with graphics for this, I will.....my '03 IB/W Cooper sported some fab one-off MC-40 magnetic rally badges back in 2004.

So how was your day of festivities. I want to here about some excitement.
Well, the real excitement was here, but I did some motoring this morning, some detailing, and some fine dining in honor of the day. Saturday morning some NAM folks got together for b'fast....a weekly ritual. That was the only social part though.
Next month is John Cooper's birthday...more MINI revelry is in store!!!!!

I'm pleased to report I'll be joining this fantastic group soon! See this thread for details: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...16#post2296416 !

I thought the same thing exactly. Yellow interior will be interesting...but then blue and yellow do go together...I'm looking forward to seeing it. Good job on the front and rear fogs - often the rear foglight is ignored then regretted at length afterwards (from an aesthetic perspective)
Thanks Dan. It's a little whacky, but I think I'm going to like it. I like a little bright color; not a big fan of all dark interiors. I think the yellow color line with the Gotham Grey is actually going to work with the O2 blue. I've got a long wait ahead of me (it won't be built 'til August) but I'll definately post pics when it (finally) arrives!

Just thought I would share: on our 20 mile, mainly highway commute this morning, we hit 45.5mpg! Thats pretty outstanding...been hitting 40mpg or just over for a couple of weeks now. Needless to say I'm a happy camper
I did my 1st auto X event on Saturday. Actually it was a safe drivers course combined with an auto X at the end. As I was leaving the lot I noticed 22MPG average on the display.
But what a blast auto X is.

Hello fellow club members!!! This Saturday I get to do a modified version of The Italian Job by representing the blue MINI on an all-day run with a Pepper White Clubman and a Nightfire Red Cooper. Should be fun.
Another OB seen in Monterey, Ca.
I saw the first Oxy blue Mini in Monterey ( other than my own ) today. I slipped in behind it and gave two quick hi-beam flashes. Alas, it was only a block before we had to go our separate ways.. It had a white top, and looked good, but I like my matching color top better
.
Here's a couple of pic's of the local Vespa Sunday morning get-together at the Starbucks in Canyon Del Rey. The Vespa trike is a working "Joe on the Go" vehicle, with multi drip and espresso facilities in the rear. Very cool.. The owner of course doesn't serve while at the get-together, and is friends with the Starbucks owners..

I dont know if it is just the picture but that Oxygen Blue looks really really green!
I also saw my first Oxygen Blue while driving mine the other day and I think the girl goes to the same college as me! Hers was almost the same as mine but had white bonnet stripes.
I went to the MOALA club meeting and while leaving I had another Mini lover gush all over the oxygen blue color and he took a hand full of pictures. I was very flattered to say the least!
