Checking In After a LONG ABSENCE

Wow. I can't believe it has been almost one year ago that I picked up Tawanda up at MINI of Dallas. She now has almost 15,000 miles on her. I love her more everyday. The only issue (posted on NAM) was the mysterious door lock/sunroof problem, which was quickly and effectively handled by MINI Northwest.

I have had a long busy year teaching, and I see the end in sight in a few weeks.

I have seen only two or three OBs up here in the Puget Sound area. Since MINI Northwest is visible right off of I-5, I look on the lot everytime I drive by. VERY few of the little beauties.

Just an FYI. She has, according to the OBC, an average MPG of 36.1 over these 15,000 miles. My hand calcs over the winter had her down to 32 MPG, but she is now back up to 36, with pushing 40 for road trips. Wow.

As time goes by, I see this OB color becoming a true iconic color, fitting for an amazing little car.

Happy Trails!

My wife(Hottie Chocolate) and I were at MOTD. We did not see one Oxy blu the whole time we were there. We were surprised, as it is such a nice color.

I may be one of the closest to the Dragon, but it was not me. Didn't get my baby soon enough to get acquainted with her, book a room, etc. Hopefully, next year ...

This is an emergency message of the North American Motoring Oxygen Blue Broadcasting System warning that, due to definite spike in interest, Oxygen Blue is being actively sought by many potential owners now posting on NAM. Your relative obscurity, and that of your favorite color, is currently being undermined. As the same time, the procurement of Oxygen Blue MINIs is bringing happiness, joy, and prosperity to these same new owners. Should the sale of Oxygen Blue MINIs exceed expected levels, please return to this station for updated information. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, designed specially for the elite owners of the most yummy MINI color ever!!!

I feel sorry for the Lightning Blue owners. They could have had an Oxy Blue, but insisted on having that silly turbo..

This is an emergency message of the North American Motoring Oxygen Blue Broadcasting System warning that roving gangs of paparazzi are now on the prowl, randomly and flagrantly snapping pictures of unsuspecting Oxygen Blue MINI Coopers!!! A recent thread on NAM clearly demonstrates that these pictures are currently being taken only of Oxygen Blue MINIs and no other MINI color. Be on the lookout!!! As an added precaution, it is recommended that owners of Oxygen Blue MINI Coopers take whatever measures necessary to look super cool (more than usual, that is) as they drive about as it is unknown when one of these rogue photographers may strike!!!

Thank you for your attention...we now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion of awesome looking Oxygen Blue Coopers.

Yes I would like more checker! The more I look at the JCW grill the more the headlights stand out and would look soooooo much better blacked out! That means more money to spend....gosh! But Dory is well worth it!

Not sure...worth considering though. De-chroming is a slippery slope. Right now you have the chrome grill surround so the chrome around the headlights looks great. Also bear in mind that with a OB/W you are always going to have a fair amount of contrast going on...especially w/ checkerboard. If you had a black roof I think you could take de-chroming to the limit....it's harder w/ an OB/W as you are always fighting the white trim. That could be toned down with a full checkerboard roof graphic, but that's a whole other story.

I do actually have the whole JCW front grill with the surrounding pieces black. Sorry the second picture I took before I finished installing the whole grill......I was having trouble.

I am thinking of doing either the whole roof blacked out or checkered. I have a sunroof so they really couldnt just do the black squares for the checkered.

In person the grill looks really tough and the chrome really sticks out! I think I am going to wait to do more chrome and maybe my next thing will be the roof!

Thanks fellow Oxygen Bluers for the input! Maybe I will get pictures taken off my car now!

you can still get checkerboard on the roof, sunroof or not. lots of people have roof graphics over sunroofs/moonroofs. And u can still see through the glass from the inside.

i think it would look cool

Yeah I know you can still get checkerboard even if you have a sunroof but I am saying that they just cant put the black checkers because my whole roof isnt white. I guess they would have to white out the whole sunroof then lay the black over or maybe they will just do one big checkerboard sheet. I was ever thinking today at work it would be cool to have an all Oxygen Blue Mini since you really dont see a lot of them.....well you really dont see a lot of Oxygen Blue Minis anywho!

For those with sunroofs and have got graphics over that are not perforated vinyl what does it look like from the inside? I heard after a while the perforated vinyl starts to tear which I dont want happening!

If I end up doing something to the car you guys will be the first to see pictures!!

For the record I think a blacked-out OB MINI...especially w/ darker wheels would look very cool. Not for me, but it would be cool (and unique).

Oxyblue,

Do you have the checkered dash too? After seeing the O Blue at the dealer, I'm wondering if I can resist the turbo and get this lovely color, AND do it up checker deluxe like you.... But I must have the dash and JCW mats. But I've never seen a pic of the dash, only on the configurator.

So if you have that imperial luxury detail, would you post a pic of it?

Somebody?

Thanks.

Sir M.
