Pics: 19" Wheels on Countryman.
A ton.. go to Summer wheels aftermarket page found in the tires and wheels section of r60.. I think users All4mini and Jbcola have lowered on 19's and soon I will to!

are you guys looking under AWD(xi) BMW models for the rim offerings on the rack/discount tire etc?
I'm looking at the Axis XMX Matte Grey for my LW/Blk CM
there were not a lot of great looks, I know the non staggered BMW stuff can fit(some might require rings?) & likely has a ton more variety.

Looking good, Kyle. When you gonna throw the NM springs on there? I'm dying to see some 19s on a car with the NM springs.
Well I'm not exactly sure when, most of it has to do with other mods that have a higher importance to me (intercooler, larger turbo, etc), but once that's all done I will probably spring for the NM springs (see what I did there?)

Countryman Center bore Specs
Confirmed:
All CM models are 5x120, CB is 72.5mm.
OEM 18's are 18x7.5 ET52
BMW models(except E39) that use 5x120 have a CB of 72.6mm (yes, .1mm larger)
The ET will vary on different generations of bimmers but a ET35-45will work with 17-19" x 7.5-8.5" 5x120.
They will all FIT, the look will vary. (ie tucked/flush/poked, etc)
Now, I dont think a .1mm ring is even possible.
...So, does it matter? (ie wobble, centering, vibe's)
I can see that tirerack has fewer listings for the CM than the 135i. (a rep would not confirm CB or cross fitments, etc. only that their engineers has listed what works) :banghead:
I can only figure that the CM listings are either CB specific or larger (universal) CB's that have an exact spacer to 72.5mm on the CM.

To be exact... I believe the centerbore is the same 72.56 mm on both the 1-series BMW and the Countryman. Depending on the wheel, or car, it can get rounded off to 72.5 or 72.6... but I'm certain they're both 72.56 in actuality.
I put the NM springs on a couple days ago and the car looks so much better. I'll see if I can snap a pic tomorrow morning before she leaves for work and post it.
No problems with the lowering springs and 245/40/19 tires.

to those w/ 19's & possibly lowered. I assume you are running non RF's?
As a vdub guy for 22+ yrs Every single car I've owned in that time has been lowered. some more than others. My largest rim was an 18 while living in Brooklyn. I went through quite a few tires from potholes/pinch flats etc.
Eventually running at 42# all around, I never had issues again.
Bottom line, my wive knows how to drive a lowered car(I wouldnt say the same way i do, but she's aware of the concerns)
I dont think the oil pan is an issue as my Avant is like 4 fingers from the blacktop(knock on wood) but my concern on the 19's w/o a spare is the sidewall. Sometimes in NY, potholes etc are surprisingly unavoidable.
Do you find yourselves extremely cautious with the 19's?
what kind of tire pressures are you all running?
thx.

the reps blanket statment about 'engineers approved, etc' can only lead me to beleive it may be a 'load rating'? but that seems more like a tire rating than rims.
At 3200# + an ~800# capcity/load wt. the CM has still got to be pretty close to the 135i weights?
(is it just too heavy for some of the rim designs?)
..cant figure out why not listed otherwise.

Would luv to see those pic of the NM springs w/ 19's as well
Here are a couple pics with the NM springs. MINI makes the CM so jacked up tall and goofy looking that when you lower the car it just makes it look normal. It doesn't really look like a lowered car, it just looks like it should have from the beginning.

You're right that MINI got the stock ride height all sorts of wrong. It is driving me nuts. Glad we found a solution!

What brand tires are you running? How is your mileage?
I just put the springs on Monday so I don't have any long-term feedback by any means. My wife drives it to work about 70 miles round-trip a day, but other than a quick spin around the block after lowering, I haven't driven it yet. Believe me, if she heard or felt so much as a peep she'd let me know about it. Just make sure to cut the bump stops per the NM instructions.
Also, I got my springs here, it was the best price and they were on my porch in two days... http://www.greedspeed.com/front-wheel-drive.html
Tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. I believe it was Motor Trend that did a very comprehensive test of sport tires a year or so ago, and these gave up a bit of outright grip compared to a few of the stickiest tires, but the trade-off is an impressive 340 treadwear and they were the smoothest riding and quietest. And TireRack's reviews reflect that as well. I put them on my Hyundai and couldn't believe that a 30-series tire could ride so smooth, so when it came to the MINI I knew I wanted the same tires.

I absolutely love the look of the Elbrus I08s. I especially like that they offer them in anthracite. The price is great too at $180 per rim.
The ONLY thing I don't like about the rims is that they are a little heavier than some of the lightest out there. The NM Eng. 19" rims are an insane 22 lbs. per wheel. If you slapped the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on there (25 lbs. per tire in 245/40/19), you are looking at 47 lbs. per wheel for fat, sticky, tall wheels and tires. I'm guessing the stock MINI rims are >30 lbs. and the Pirelli Run Flats are 26 lbs., which is a savings of ~ 10 lbs. per wheel, or ~40 lbs. of unsprung weight! That's insane.
The Elbrus I08s are 27.4 pounds, so you're giving up 5.4 lbs. of unsprung weight per wheel, for a total of nearly 22 lbs. It seems like a lot.
What's a guy to do? Aesthetics and price or performance?
lighter is better, if its stronger(strong enough).
I'm wondering if the CM vs BMW rims selections are fewer on Tirerack because of a vehicle wt. difference. ?
Is it possible some of the TR BMW offerings are not rated for the CM wt.?
( I kn ow tires have a load rating, not sure about rims?)
Even if the Elbrus are heavier than the NM, theyre still lighter than the OE set up
My selections are narrowed down to aprox 7 rims now. Ahhhg.
I want to get it first( a few more wks. On boat as of yest. ) & then decide btwn 18/19. For sure the 19 look better.

juannicolas - I didn't take before and after measurements of the height, but this is what it says on the NM website...
Lowering Rate:
FWD: 40mm (1.6") Fr • 35mm (1.4") Rr
ALL-4: 40mm (1.6") Fr • 40mm (1.6") Rr
Ours is not an All4, so supposedly it is lowered 1.4" which sounds right.
I finally got a chance to drive it Sunday. I drove it around 60 miles with two adults up front, my 49 lb. seven year old in the back seat, and a few bags of groceries in the back. At one point we hit a huge dip in the toll-road at about 80mph, and all I heard was a quick little scrape from a rear tire probably rubbing the plastic inner fender liner. So I'm happy, because that dip completely bottomed-out the suspension, and everything was fine. I don't know if we'll ever drive it with four grown adults in the car, but if we do I don't foresee any problem at all.
My 245/40/19 tires are about 3% bigger diameter than stock, which is what I wanted for the perfect look, and because it cancels out the 3% that they purposely make speedos read higher.
There is a thread somewhere about the NM springs so you can look for that and check for reviews there. The springs are progressive, if you look at them you can see the tightly wound coils and the evenly spaced coils. The stock springs are a standard linear rate. Because they are progressive, the initial movement is softer than stock, so it soaks up little harsh stuff better than the stock springs, like expansion joints and stuff in the road. Then when you hit something bigger, the stiffer part of the spring comes in to play and you can feel it's firmer than stock. I say "firmer" but it isn't harsh, no sharp jolts.
My '05 MCS was extremely lowered with 18" wheels, but from what I remember from the first few days I had it (we're going back a long time ago remember) before I lowered it, was that even stock it rode pretty rough, much much rougher than the Countryman with either stock springs or with NM springs.
Also, if you're concerned with ride quality then you might want to reconsider the 35-series tires and go with a 40-series tire like I did. 235/40/19 is an oddball size with not many decent tire choices. Based on what others are using on the CM, and my own experience, I would recommend a 225/40/19 if you have a 19x8 wheel, and a 245/40/19 if you have a 19x8.5 wheel.
I hope all this helps.

Thank you so much!!! Your information help me a lot, would you mind to share the NM's suspension website? It seems I can't get the right result when googled.
I also think about the tire size to go with the 245/40/19 due to the non flat road here in puerto rico. We have a lot of potholes and uniformed roads. I was thinking that 235/35/19 were to low and thin for this type of roads.
Also this are the rims I was thinking to buy
http://www.tenzoracingsports.com/wheel06.htm
19x8.5 +45 (just to be sure.) There is a +35 but since I have to buy it overseas I don't want to have issues.

Here are the springs on their website... http://www.nm-eng.com/nm558860-nm-en...pring-kit.html
I bought mine here because it was the best deal, but you may have to look around to see who will ship to Puerto Rico... http://www.greedspeed.com/front-wheel-drive.html
You will be great with those, they are basically the same size as my wheels, only 3mm difference which is basically nothing. Also, if you decide to go with 245/40/19 tires I would recommend the Potenza RE760 Sport because they ride smoother than their competitors, and they are also 9.6" wide while the other brands are 9.8" wide in the same size. Our car was on order for nine weeks, so I had a lot of time to research during that time.
