Runflats come off in the morning! YES!

New non run flats arrived from Tire Rack and go on in the morning.

Now do I just dispose of the run flats??? They only have 4k miles on them...
OR do I bother to sell them?????
Seems that just about nobody likes run flats, which is why I'm ditching them...

What to do????????

Good luck with your new tires!

Which brand non run flats did you get from Tire Rack? Same size? or different?
After two weeks of driving on the run flats in my new '12 Countryman All4, I'm seriously considering making the switch, too. The run flats seem okay on a smooth highway, but on a rougher road, they're really harsh.

Thanks, fused. Absolutely let us know how the ride is after you've had a chance to test them out. Enjoy!

Ok, RFs are GONE!!!!!! And I took the new non RFs for a short test run...
I am lovin them!!!!! Its a different car... Its a way better car....
Potholes aren't scary anymore... Cornering is nicer.... It feels like a nicer car...
I will never ever again settle for a new car that MUST come with RFs ever again!
If Mini wants to sell me another car, and my wife has been considering it, they will either do the swap up front, or lose the sale. I will not budge on this.

When I bought the CM, I never had RFs before. And I will never have them ever again.

I will do some more test drives....god I am now thinking about the roads that I must try LOL.... Extensive road tests are required... Lets see, if I leave soon, I can stop for dinner at a cool diner about 1000000000 miles from here, then... Yeah, this is gong to be fun

You should try to sell them on NAM and kijiji. There are people who like the runflats (I am not one of them! )

I plan to sell my brand new performance run flats from my JCW early next year.

Yeah, sell them.... I can only speak for the difference in performance....
I went down some side streets that were made of those big Belgium bricks.... RFs were horrid, small differences between the blocks would feel like the suspension was coming out of the car. NOW, like riding on a cloud...

YET, when I took it down the twisty roads, hugged the road like it was glued to it... AND the car feels sporty... I can't say that it actually ever felt sporty since the day I got it, not like this, all due to nasty tires that Mini shoves down our throats....

My wife has been talking about another mini. I can tell you this much, if they can't deal on getting rid of the RFs at the dealer and putting on normal/BETTER tires, no sale. OR they can hand me back the cash that would be paid for RFs so that I can ditch them and not pay for them.
I tried them, I will never buy another car with them again...

Hi Fused, any clearing/rubbing issues with these tires? Do you have the stock setup with the 17in wheels or is your MINI raised or spaced to accomodate?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Haven't noticed any rubbing and I've been toying with these tires on some pretty twisty roads as well as on the open highway.

The guy that calculated the size before I purchased from tire rack, took into consideration the size and clearances that the 18" tires had then figured out the size possibilities for the 17". The 50s haven't had any problems that I've noticed... I do like the wider footprint...only about an inch but way way better than those run flats in every way...

BUT just to make sure, I'll be going out in a while, I will do as tight a turn as I possibly can and let you know if there's anything at all rubbing.

I know that I read a lot of "should work" posts as well and the poster hadn't tried them and was making an educated guess.... I will let you know for sure since I already have them on the car.

Just did some tests...
In parking lot, as tight a turn as I could do, both directions with 225\50ZR17...
Tires are inflated to 32lbs...

NO rubbing, nothing at all seems out of the ordinary...

To and from location was extreme hilly and twisty roads, about 5 miles of them...
Handling was excellent!

I love these tires!

PS: Just noticed the wheel question... Yes these are the stock rims, 17" black that came with the car. No offset issues etc...

My car is scheduled to arrive on 11/30 and I'm ordering the non RF's from tirerack today so they're here when the car comes. I has RF's on my 335i and hated them. Switched them out on that car too. I've been going back and forth on this but I think I've decided on the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 215/45/17. I'm leasing so I'm going to store the RF's and put them back on the car before I turn it in in 3 years so they'll be getting back their same crummy tires, brand new! As far as demanding non RF's from the dealer, it might be a problem if you have an S because there's no spare and MINI/BMW probably won't let them have you drive off the lot with regular tires and no spare. However, if you take them off immediately so they're brand new, you should be able to sell them for enough to pay for the non-RF's which are much cheaper.
