What widths and offsets will work with the CM?

We need to get a better wheel info thread for our Countryman. First of all, what are the OEM wheels specs (Sizes, widths and offsets)? Then what wheel widths and offsets will work with the CM without rubbing inside and out?

Lets start with this

17" OEM Wheels
Width: 7"
Offset: 50?

18" OEM Wheels
Width: 7.5"
Offset: 52?

Can anyone add to this? Thanks.

The factory wheels and tires are:

17x7 offset 50, 205-55R17
18x7.5 offset 52, 225-45R18
19x7.5 offset 52 (JCW R129), 225-40R19

The following wheels are offered specifically for the R60 Countryman, so I would assume they work without issues. I was particularly happy to find the info on the Schnitzers, as it suggests there's plenty of room for big wheels on the CM.

NM Engineering RSe14, 19x8 offset 45, with 225- or 235-40R19 tires

AC Schnitzer Type IV and Type VIII, 19x8.5 offset 43, with 225-40R19 tires

Personally I'm going with 18x7.5 or 18x8 wheels, since the tires are so much cheaper than 19". Also, I'm avoiding 8.5" rims since I don't want the tires to "stretch" to fit the rims.

Well, that didn't go as expected. Just ordered SSR Type F Euro's in 19x8.

things don't always go as planned. From the links you posted looks like we can go push the wheel out a maximum of 21mm from the OEM 18x7.5 wheel. But the Schnitzer CM seems to have some sort of lip attached to the fenders, probably to keep the wheels under the fenders, so maybe 8" widths would suit our cars better. Its pretty difficult to find wheels with offsets in the 50 range, most of the aftermarket wheels for BMW (same bolt pattern as the CM) are in the 45 and lower. So its good to know that we have more options to choose from.

What offset did you get for your SSR's? Any pics of it mounted?

+45 on the SSRs. However, I'm having second thoughts on the 19's, thinking about changing the order to 18's.

No pics, don't have either the car or the wheels yet! Car is somewhere in the mid-Atlantic right now, should be driving it before Halloween.

Post some pics as soon as you have them mounted. I would personally go with 18s, I thin it would look better with the crossover stance of the CM. Would want to see how the 45 offset would look on the car. Thanks.

I "chickened out" the day after I placed the order and changed it back to 18x8. My thinking was exactly like yours, and I liked the better selection (and price) of tires in 18.

CMA4S should be here in a could of weeks, dunno when the wheels will arrive but will post pics when it's all together.

Got the wheels, but won't get summer tires and put it all together til spring. I'm using the factory wheels and Michelin X-Ice's for the winter.

The SSR's look awesome, I can't wait to try them. But I REALLY like the tunnel spokes too, and with the non-RF's it's a very nice ride. These pics are back at Halloween when I first got the car.
