Muffler at middle

I have a MC(non s)(2003),
I took Cooper s bumpers for my cooper so i will change my muffler type,
it will be at the middle, there are 2 alternative way,

first one; adding a pipe to my oem muffler and lay it to the middle,

second one; removing oem muffler and spare tire then putting a magnaflow universal muffler(pic-1) at middle like pic-2(like 07-mcs).
If a choose second one, Will i meet with a back pressure problem or another? Willi i get more power?

Thanks for your valuable answers

Great idea. I'm not sure about the back pressure issue, but it'll look cool.

I think if there is a back pressure issue it'll be from going from a single port to the dual port Magnaflow.

well i don't know about the whole back pressure but there is an exhaust that has the dual tips but it runs along one side, like the cooper, but it for the S. when i save money i will do more research to see if it fits

You can swap out the lower trim and keep the side exit exhaust.

I would guess that you are going to have similar back pressure to a less restrictive cat-back, and would not have any problems in this case. Other than changing the direction of the piping by a small amount (and actually making it less restrictive) I don't see how this proposed mod could cause you problems in back pressure. You might get some popping and burble, but that's a good thing!

I'm assuming you'll have to rework the heat shield material to accomodate the new exhaust exit.

Like dansmini said, why don't you just switch the molding and leave the exhaust where it is. Then you won't have any problems. I'm going to do this once I can get my bumper painted.
