Cooper (non S) Modifications specific to the MINI Cooper (R50).

Does anyone have a non-S type intake manifold they'd be willing to part with...

So I can modify it to a design I have in my mind that will hopefully raise performance? I can post photos as it goes through stages of completion, then I will mount it on my car and report how it does- more performance or less. I believe my idea is sound and will be an improvement, but I need my MC to go to work every day. I'm looking for the plastic intake manifold that mounts to the cylinder head, not the air filter plumbing which most refer to as "intakes". If my design improves performance, I could get it produced as an aftermarket performance part. Replacing the intake manifold is an easy, straight forward job, so if this works, it could be an easy mod for everyone. -Jeffy.

There are a few companies that already offer one for the Cooper. Is your idea worth that much trouble (R&D)?

Of course most of us will have the same problem unless we happen to own an extra unused MC. Is this what you are referring to? You might ask Classic about the price of the part, or check with junkyards.

The few companies that offer an intake manifold... Are they for the NON-S Mini Cooper? Also, I am referring to the part that bolts directly onto the cylinder head. If so, what are the names of these companies? To answer the r'n d question, yes, it would be worth it- I have a marked course where I test for terminal velocity. If the speed at the end is higher than before, it works. Throttle response will be tested also, as well as fuel economy. -Jeffy.

Here is the one from Madness. It is listed under MCS but I believe they are interchangeable. http://www.mini-madness.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=170

I can't find the other 2.

The intake manifolds look completely different between Cooper and S:

Since there probably aren't many Mini junkyards...

Do you think they would try to sell used parts like these over E-bay? I guess my most likely source is going to be someone who has a wrecked Mini Cooper(non-S). Help me find one and maybe it will end up as a cheap and easy performance mod. -Jeffy.
