Supersprint vs. Borla

Thinking of either Supersprint or Borla exhaust for my new MC.

Want it for 1. Good sound 2. H-stock autocross
But, it can not wake the neighbors when I drive home at night, nor drone on my highway commute each day. Opinions please!

And will the Supersprint w/o resonator be too loud or drone, as I suspect it will be the best of their two for autocross???

Thanks in advance

supersprint

I have the Supersprint exhaust and like the tone. When cruising it is apparent but not overbearing. You can listen to the radio without loud radio volume. Step on it and it definately resonates. There is a forum on exhaust tones in NAM that you can listen to each exhaust.

This is for the an MC, looks like you are driving an MCS, and if I remeber correctly there is not an MC Supersprint sound file on those threads.

I'm a fan of Supersprint. I am doing a full exhaust w/center out w/round tips SOON! I just don't know about going with or without resonator. Let me know what you find out! Worst case scenerio is that I buy both pipes.

I have SS.....but car is in the shop still so I can't give my true verdict. However there are other tuned MCSs here with SS and the owners are pleased.

I have the SS w/o resonator and you can definetly tell that there is an exhaust. the drone is not bad city driving, but on the highway, its apparent. overall i do love the exhaust and i would not get any other.

2perCooper,
Sent you PM about if we can get together when I pick up my car over in Chicago to hear your car.

UKSUV,
I won’t be doing the exhaust till first part of next year at the soonest so please do post back here with what you find when you put yours on. I’m just doing research now trying to make good use of the time while my MINI is being built/shipped.

I've got the supersprint on my cooper. No resonator (straight central pipe).
The car is loud, but from the inside is not really annoying.
On costant speed is pretty quiet, for highway driving i usually stay around 150 kph, that's the quietest speed with no drone at all. Under load it get louder, i got to hear it from another car being overtaken and it's amazing...big BOOM with a lot of metallic sound, i love it!

I've noticed a big difference in noise when the car is hot, like after driving flat out for a few minutes.

Here's my car noise:

Gardus,
When you say “from the inside is not really annoying" does the exhaust sound interfere with listening to music - not cranked to the max volume setting, just normal music listening volume?

Also, when you describe it as "big BOOM with a lot of metallic sound" does it sound classic sports car or rice?

One last question for anyone with a SS; how big to the Supersprint tip? I've read the Borla is 4".

It doesn't interfere when cruising, but i noticed that under load at low revs the low frequency of the radio and the exhaust sum up so i turned down the low freq 1 or 2 bars on the equalizer of the boost cd.

The line between classic and rice is not very defined... i like it, it sounds a bit rallyish, like some group N cars, it's not one of that boomy sounds you hear at tuning meeting, it's refined (more with SS/OBX headers) and appropriate for the kind of car, but i think it can be too much for somebody.

My mum drive it around and she told me that it's a bit noisy but she got used to it.

The tip is 80 mm, the curve line of the bumper is exactly the same radius of the tip + 1 cm so i mounted it 1 cm and it fits perfectly. From the rear you can see inside the tip the real diameter is 56 mm, but it passes smoothly from 56 to 80 so you need to be at the same level to see it. I think is classy, doesn't look aftermarket, and the logo is nice.
