Quietest aftermarket exhaust for Cooper

I honestly want an aftermarket exhaust mostly for a lower, somewhat throatier but mellow sound. I've done this with both my audis after a lot of research and been happy. Most of all I want NO DRONE at cruise. Actually considering the factory "sport exhaust" option, even at nearly $700. Heard great things about Remus and saw the fantastic price on ebay, but there were fitment issues with new Coopers. Don't expect much power gain but a few ponies would be nice. Miltek? factory Sport? anyone, anyone?

The quietest exaust besides the factory is probably the JCW exhaust, which can be purchased separately from the WORKS kit.

I've replaced the JCW exhaust with Milltek and I'm very happy with its sound. Under 3000 RPM, it sounds very quiet. On the highway, the exhaust sound is also not noticeable at all. Only when stepping on the accelerator, the car roars with a deep throaty sound, which harmonize perfectly with the high pitch sound from the supercharger.

quiet exhaust

yeah - it's an MC not MCS - anybody got personal experience with the Miltek on a Cooper? I'm looking into whether Remus plans to make an exhaust that fits later model coopers, but if anyone knows for sure, chime in. thanks

Not the Borla - it is loud on the highway. I love it, but I'll be going with something different on my new Cooper.

I've heard that the RSpeed has a great sound without a lot of extra noise or drone. It's also a beauty to look at!

mini552,
Quiet, good looks, no drone for an MC?
If you like a subtle exhaust tip then Rspeed for about $495

http://webbmotorsports.com/exhaust-mc.php

If you like a bit more aftermarket looking tip then Milltek.About $540-549

Remus is also OK but not a Cat-back.

Rspeed, Miltek

OK - When I first started doing research here, the Rspeed really caught my eye, but I read recently that it is no longer available - I think I actually got a PM from the vendor to that effect - - - anybody know otherwise. The Miltek tips look good to me - if its pretty quiet as aftermarket goes and has no drone, I'll buy - particularly if it'll bolt right up to an '05 or '06.

I'd went with the Borla on my Cooper and found it a bit too loud and quite drony, especially on the highway (see Chrisnl's corroborating comment above.) Switched to a Remus and was very happy. Great, throaty sound with no drone, and very nice fit. Beautiful tone at wot over 4.5k. I kept my windows down (as well as the go pedal) all the time to hear it. You won't be disappointed.

But don't take my word for it, check out Gabe Bridger's review with sound clips.

Oh, I also like the blacked out "can" on the remus and the perfectly sized and shaped tip.

I have a Miltek on my 2003 Cooper. I love the sound of it, but right now I'm having a rattle issue that's driving me insane. I don't know if its specific to my car, or happens on all Cooper Milteks, but I'm so frustrated that I want to go back to stock. Hopefully we'll have the issue solved in the next week or so.

I know how rattling can drive you insane, but often, it's a simple fix. The exhaust is probably rubbing against something, which can usually be resolved with a minor adjustment.

I did not find Rspeed MC exhaust at their site- bad sign.
Check with Webbmotorsports.com since Randy still lists it as a option.

The Remus is OK as mentioned- just do some welding to install it. $399
Only for 02'-04' MC

Actually, no welding required - just one cut. It's a slip fit with a clamp. Shop around - I found one for $299.
