Shifter Linkage Cables

Hi,

I am trying to get the shifter linkage cables to swap into my 2002 R50 Mini Cooper to go with the 6 speed transmission. I think I have the condition "A" gearbox.

Would I need the linkage cables from 2002 to 2003 R53 part numbers 25117531708 & 25117531707?

Also, how do I get the Craven Speed short shifter to work into my 2002 gearbox? I dont see a product for 2002 to 2003, only 2004 to 2006.

Please let me know thanks.

Veryfy that with your MINI parts dept. Tell them you have the shifter box with reinforment ribs on the housing, and not the smooth box. I seem to recall different part no's. than those above for that style.

Also, call Craven directly on their application.

Thanks, I have the condition A box with the reinforment ribs on it which is white housing.

So I would need the 2002 to 2003 R53 part numbers 25117531708 & 25117531707 correct?

Found out that Craven does not offer one for 2002 to 2003 Minis.

Please let me know about the cables.

For a box like the one here with ribs. You will need.

25-11-7-531-707 SHIFTING CAB
25-11-7-531-708 SHIFTING CAB

FWIW - I have a B&M SSK, never looked into the Craven one since the OEM bottom dust cover will not bolt up on that set up.

The B&M SSK one allows for aftermarket screw on shift *****, as well as the push on BMW style.

FYI - B&M sell the kits based upon your build date ( to the month ). They offer two kits so make sure you get the correct one.

Thanks for the information about the shifter and cables. Nice interior by the way.

I looked at the diagram from Realoem.com and the part number for the cables.

I think part number 25-11-7-531-707 applies to Condition B and 25-11-7-547-371 applies to Condition A.

Please see red rectangle box where I highlighted #7 in red for condition B and blue box for condition A that are showing where the part numbers are.

So, I should get this part number 25-11-7-547-371 I believe

I think the ribbed box was for the earlier MCS's. Later on the smooth front faced boxes appeared. So if you have the ribbed box from an 02-03 MCS then you should need the ones I listed.

And when application for part no. 25-11-7-547-371 is checked, it seems to only apply to the smooth faced boxes. ( build date after January 2004 ? )

Thing is I could have sworn when I needed a cable last year I used a 371. So I will have to check my purchase history on that.

What color is the box and the bushing? it will tell you which box you have. you have to lift up the shift boot and look inside there. Give us a call at the shop on Monday and i can help you walk thru it. 586.792.6464

Thanks Chad,

I have the 2002 white box condition "A" with the reinforment ribs box, not the smooth black shape box.

I cannot hear well on the phone since I am hearing impaired and rely on emails to communicate. You can send me a private message and hope this is not a problem. Thanks.

Thanks, so is this the correct part number for Condition A:
25-11-7-547-371
25-11-7-531-708

Or

Hi guys. This is my first message here..

Possibly dumb question but what are these Condition A and B stands for?

I have a problem with my current cable which tends to come off frequently, so it needs replacement possibly.

Or are there any ways to strengthen up its connection?

Thanks in advance, sorry for my english
