hello erik808

Don't know about other people but I got a really good deal from this guy Trivision auto @ $37.99

After I had install the intake I can feel the air rushing in to the intake after I step on the guest or doing a fast acceleration. It sounded nice just like a RX7 turbo and I do save some gas on this intake. Can't get any better for $37.99 The only thing I had to do was to make the Polishe ram Shorter. hehehheee

Erik808,

Based on the Trivision auto's intake picture I would say that those designs that are close to it would yield similar loudness. See K&N filter by Helix or Rspeed intake, Moss intake.

I just spoke to Helix13 and found out that the PiperCross Viper and other closed intakes for the MC are not loud.

The rear partition airbox mod so popular with MCS owners will not help the MC because of the different location of the intakes.

And most of all. Loudness does not equal any power advantage. It can be music to one's ears however.

I have the Monster MINI Force intake, and I have yet to see another Cooper owner on the boards running one - it is pretty loud. Louder than the Twister. Between my intake and exhaust, my car sounds alot "bigger" than it is.

I do indeed have the Rogue. And there is no mistaking my car - when I have had it down at Helix, I can always hear Eric taking it around the block the entire time. It's not the loudest, but it is aggressive. My wife always knows when I'm home -

I've got the rogue also and I agree with Dandp. It's got a nice low growl. I have tried the twister, a drop in foam filter and a pipercross powercone. The pipercross is my favorite by far.

I have the moss intake, when I first installed it I thought it was very loud but now it seems quiet...maybe I got used to it

The Moss intake looks similar to the one you posted AC but it has a brace that connects the intake tube to the transmission mount.

minihune, dandp, sdanaher, asodestrom, and rfibanez -- THANKS A LOT, FELLAS!!

*minihune: Your Quicksilver (MCS) sounds killer!!

*dandp & asodestrom: Stoked that you two are stoked with your Rogue exhausts!!

*sdanaher: Mid-December's a coming for your Helix 13 exhaust!! You're gonna love its low, pretty loud rumble -- I love my Helix 13!!

*rfibanez: For you to say that you've found the Moss to be loud initially says something as I'd figure that you've got loud in your blood

Thanks again, fellas

That intake really will not help your performance at all.

Firest reason. It have such a small surface area, and the inlet holes at the top reall restrict air flow.

Second, that is not a cold air, and will let in all hot air, causing a power loss.

If you want an intake, spend it on something that will atleast help the car.

Thanks

Your better off staying stock.... If you want to do it, I suggest the BMP for the Mini. It is great looking, is a semi cold air, has a good filter, and is open so it will probably be the loudest of the bunch. I don't really sell it, but have delt with it, and liked it. It's the best fitting, best working intake. Price though is about 190ish...

for 4 dollars, I'd just save your money and buy some milk or something... you'll get more for your money there...

Thanks

I was recently in an autocross with alot of modded MCS's and the loudest ones had the BMP intakes and modded cowlinduction walls (holes cut). And also if your intake is not somehow "removed" from the engine bay it is not a true cold air system.that is why the BMP is semi , it has a cannister around it and only draws air from the end of it that points at the wall of the cowl box.I myself have the mini mania cold air filter system with the replacement air box that seals to the hood .I wasn't really goin for the sound thing.I bought it as part of the stage 1 kit from mini mania, but they do sell it seperately.

And that 3.99 filter your lookin at aside from bein most likely shiny junk , is most likely no better than your stock one for flow and certainly not better for air temperature.
