what about the R52 MCC? Do any manufacture the bend in the pipe to accommodate the rear under strut bracket? I was looking at Megan to replace my stock exhaust.

Hopefully someone will answer this... can anyone please find or provide a soundclip of the OBX. I was just about to purchase my megan exhaust but ran accross the OBX on ebay for $100 cheaper. Anyone have any input on the two that may help my decision? I wanteda borla but compared to the megan its just not worth the money. I dont want a ricey sound at all, so if the obx isnt too loud and raspy it may be worth saving the money.

OBX clip anyone? I recall hearing a clip on youtube at one point but it's since been removed. Sounded nice and balanced (not rice) from what I could tell, but the qual of the recording wasn't very good. I'd love to hear more.
I agree the price point is tough to beat. If it sounds anything like the Supersprint exhaust it's apparently modeled after, I'm in for one too.

Yeah, my toss up is between that and the Megan. The only reason I even considered it is because of the price. I wanted borla because of the name and that deep not loud sound. The Megan is louder than the borla but or the price difference I think it's worth it. It still has a pretty good low tone. I really need to compare the Megan and obx... But I'm getting impatient and want it now.

One more to add to the mix or Trapp ;)

Super Trapp on a 2005 MINI Cooper non-S
Always looking for a little more power I found good feedback about the Super Trapps Tunable exhaust giving guys more power on other 4 bangers but had only seen a few, but good, reports about them on MINI’s S and non-S.
I started looking for one, used but could find one that would work. Using the Super Trapp part #449-2518 I found Amazon had a few for only $135.99 with FREE Shipping and they were complete units. Be careful some places are selling just parts and not a complete unit. That saved me over $100.00.
I then took an old R53 (aka MINI Cooper S) OEM exhaust lying around the shop and with the goal of being able to show others without welders how to do this I started the project.
I cut the R53 system about 6 inches back from the resonator, so we could still use it if needed, and also gave me too much pipe but I’d rather cut more off then have too little. My local NAPA store sent over part #41188, 41963, 732-1006, 31534, and 2 #86 clamps. Retail cost $73.00 and no welding or trip to your local muffler shop.
I fitted the cut R53 pipe to the cat and mid brace all bolted tight to make sure the rear fitting was right the 1st time. We ended up cutting more off the R53 pipe to get just the right fit and trimmed a little off the NAPA part too. Got it all to fit just right, and yes you MUST hang the SuperTrapp out past the bumper because the heat is coming out the sides of the tip not out the end, tighten it all up with the hanger from NAPA on one of the stock hanger studs it was done.
Started it up checked for leaks and went for test drive.
The volume is lower than my Megan system was and no DRONE at any speed or RPM. I started out with 6 discs and found it to be too much back pressure, so I added 2 more discs (total of 8) and it’s just right. Without a dyno I can’t say for sure I have more HP. My Butt Dyno feels like there is lower end TQ, my goal, and less volume and no DRONE for $210.00 and a few hours of time. You could use your stock R50 system to cut down just like I used the stock R53. Even if you needed your local muffler shop to make a pipe it’s still going to cost less to have a tunable exhaust system that can grow with your motor mods.
After having it on the car for a few weeks and a two day race event I know there's more low end power and it was low cost too.
I'm very happy with my SuperTrapp and hope others find this helpful

My R50 is running an ECU Tune, CAI, BRISK plugs and this exhuast above with 116,000 miles.

...have MEGAN. Pros/Cons/and one question!

On Feb 4th, I purchased an '02 MC R50 for $2800. I got 36mpg with a rusted exhaust, squealing brakes, a faulty plug wire, and a low oil pressure light reminding me that at <2000 rpms, my engine wasn't getting lubed and a wrecked front end that whistled above 40 mph... ... After $5000 in repairs and replacements for brakes, exhaust, plugs/wires, front bonnet replacement, tires, air filter, windshield... I'm sitting at 30mpg tops. My rear spindles/bearing whine... My car back fires a "POP-POP" after a medium acceleration... Yes sir, I installed the Megan exhaust. Do I note a performance increase? Well, it sounds bad *** - sure, but it's an R50. That's like giving a hamster a 5 Hour Energy cola - not much for the effort... But, I miss the mileage!!!! Suggestions? MSD ignition and wires? Please advise!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out?

I have the rear Lumma bumper coming soon that has exhaust on each side of the rear bumper. I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of exhaust the Lumma bumper use? What is the brand and part numbers?

I have found an exhaust from Borla, but not sure what is the different between those two part numbers in this site:

http://www.borla.com/products/cat-ba...app_id=1387874
Part # 140027
Part # 140035

I know these are for the "S" cooper exhaust with the middle tips, but just curious if I just modify to have the pipes straight out on each side of the bumper and will it work?

Would a Mini Cooper Clubman dual exhaust work for our R50 cars?

This image of the borla exhaust design website is what I am looking for: http://sportcompactonly.com/Mini/Coo...4881_v-158.htm

Does anyone know what size the tips of the borla is? I couldn't find any information on it.

Last, if running dual exhaust mufflers, did you have to remove the spare tire and was there any successful running the dual mufflers with the spare tire?

Let me know thanks.

Looks like your run of the mill fartcan, painted black, and some carbon fiber look tape applied.
FWIW, I painted my (stock) muffler with high heat black, as I too like that look.

I'm going to going with the OBX header, then get my exhaust mulfer sponsor knock up rally system from the header back. I'd like to end with Y to make a dual tail pipe like the Prodrive Mini's

I'm beginning to research an aftermarket exhaust for my 2003 R50.

The stock beer can exhaust tip is one of my favorite features of my car. I'd be interested to know which, if any, of these options will take a standard stock tip. If some will and some won't I'll want to know b/c I really, really don't want to lose my stock tip if I can avoid it!
