A question about the rear sway bar. I enjoy driving the twisties but I do not race or autocross. Bone stock 2004 MC. What's the best choice? 22mm set low but enabling me to stiffen or 19mm set high?

Opinions?

I'd do neither

I'd pick up a used bar from an S and go with that.... Real cheap!

Also, are you experiencing and bothered by the understeer?

How's your tire wear?

I like the 19mm rear swaybar since my suspension and my car is relatively mild in mods. I also have TSW springs, UHPAS tires with Azenis Fallken on the wya, and some bracing by OMP. Overall, I am really happy with the suspension of the ride! A 22mm rear sway is overkill imho

fixed camber plates. Will improve grip through apex, with no additional NVH. Not expensive either. Will address the mushroomed strut tower issue as well. If NVH is not a problem, adjustable camber plates.

Really, watch the "just bolt it on" approach....

Both bracing and camber plates will reduce the understeer somewhat. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you have an issue, address that. The quest for "better" is very ellusive when it comes to suspension.

Here's an example.... Some fixed plates, lower chassis stifining and playing with tire pressures will reduce or eliminate understeer, depending on exact implementation details, then adding more rear bar will just "overdo" it.

If you drive on lots of poor surfaces, stiffer bars can reduce grip at speed (as can stiffer springs). So it depends on what you drive on what the best change is.

If you have tons of crappy roads to drive on, you can reduce understeer by disconnecting the front bar (what's important is the relative bar strengths, not the absolute stiffness for understeer oversteer compansation) and not end up skipping over the tops of the bumps like a rock skips over water.

Just some stuff to think about.

Matt
