umm, its the same head, why wouldnt the threads be the same? There are people who have put s heads on coopers on here before, so yeah, the intake would fit. i also must ask, why? unless your going turbo, then it makes some sense.

justin thinks it would be better to put a custom intake mani on for a turbo...

That's right but we are making some test first to determine what parts to use

Well, I know that the MCS intake manifold is connected to the IC and that the MCS throttle body is connected to a plastic hose that goes to the supercharger. On the MC the throttle body is directly connected to the intake manifold, I want to install the MCS intake manifold and TB into my MC, does any one has done this before?? I know that I will need to make some flange to put the MCS intake manifold and TB together, I will appreciate your comments and if you have any closer pics of the MCS IM and how close it is to the head. thanks

I don't think you want to do it...

the runners on the MCS intake manifold were designed for packaging, not power. They are too short for the RPM range that the engine makes power. Sure you can do it if you want to, and it will be cheaper than going custom. Give Jan a call at RMW and ask about his intake design for his turbo only car. Ask him how he chose the length runner he's using and compare how long the runners are compared to the intake on the S. But the boost will cure many ills, so for a lower cost mod package it will work.

out of curiosity.. arnt the runners different lengths between the car? wouldnt you need to tune accordingly? The stock ecu wouldnt be able to cope right would it?

then again.. you would need a tune anyway with your turbo :p

Runner length should be determined by peak HP RPM

diameter by flow requirements. Think of the runners as pipe organ pipes. You want the pitch to match the engine pitch, to abuse concepts.

To get max out of the car, custom tune all the way!

Hi .. i have kind of a problem to.. i have sucessufly installed the cooper S throttle body on the cooper air intake pipe.. but the cooper air intake pipe is to narrow... so i tried de Cooper S.. but it doesn't fit(i dont remember why but i tried and i was not sucessful).

Is there anynone that sells a larger intake pipe (from throttle body to the head)???

I want to enlarge my cooper s throttle body but without having a larger pipe it wont make any difference!!

Best regards

It's a bit off topic...

but who cares! Anyway, the Cooper S TB is 58mm and the Cooper is 56mm I think. I'm not sure that you will see much difference, as I don't think the TB is the bottleneck on the car. I think M7 was selling an opened up TB for the cooper, but I may be wrong there.

What has lead you to do this? Just tinkering, or do you have data showing that you would anticipate a benefit?

Thanks,

Matt

Its 52mm vs 58mm... so if i had a larger air intake "pipe"(combined with the cooper S throttle body) i can have a better airflow...

You do not see MUCH difference maybe 1 or 2hp.. but when you have a cooper every litle thing makes a diference...

I dont have the possibility to have a 271 mustang

Yes M7 had one.. but a cooper S one(already tested) can help to add an extra hp or 2...

and the throttle body isnt directly attached to the head.. it has a plastic intake .. and that's what i one(a bigger intake pipe)....
