The intake noise from under the bonnet is louder and the exhaust note is louder and throaty at 4500 rpms. Generally a more aggressive tone but not overly loud for the Borla for MC. Try to find someone in your area that has this setup and go for a ride.

Yea, at speed, you and everyone around you, will know what your intentions are that's for sure. On the track too. Oh, and don't even think about trying to sneak home at 2AM after a night out drinkin' with the boys. You'll never pull it off with these mods.

I had Roxy on the dyno. Made more noise than the S'. Too bad horsepower wasn't the same . But, 107hp at the wheels is nothing to sneeze at for a cooper I don't think.

The best has to be the 75MPH 3rd to 4th shift. Followed by the 55mph 2nd to 3rd shift. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I've got a short video with some racing footage in it....at about the 22 second mark you will see a VR MC (#18) followed by an IB/W MCS. The noise you hear over the supercharger is the Borla exhaust...

Click for the video...requires QT (4.6MB)

I have a short video. I have no where to place it so that others can access it. It is an mpeg file, just under 8MB.

Quite difficult to distinguish between yours and the others. I'm sure that it sounds excellent though:smile:

How about you e-mail it to me please (I've got the capacity for 8MB easily)? Sweet

Thanks

I'd love to do such, paddy! However, the MINI USA Resume can contain photos only ...shucks . Yes, videos would be a blast to collect!

Anyone tried the Mini Minia Intake for MC? How is it compared with other intake like K&N or pipercross?

I did not read the entire thread, but it appears that the thread has veered away from its original intention which was for non S MC's.

My non S MC has in order of mod:

H-Sport 19MM rear bar on center setting, works GRREAAATTT!!!
Cooper S springs
S Lites (I'm gonna put my lightweight original wheels back on.)
Borla (Sounds great)
Mini Madness Twister intake (disappointingly no sound change that I can hear over the exhaust.)
MTH reflash (this was CLEARLY the best engine mod. It made that little motor come alive!!!!!)

I am very pleased with the power and handling of my MC. The MC is almost 200 pounds lighter than an S, geared a little lower, lighter wheels, higher compression, etc. For these reasons coupled with my mods, it is not as anemic as one might think as compared to an S. Don't get me wrong, in an all out race there is no way I could stay with an S, but with the lighter weight, lower gearing and improved midrange from the reflash, I think I could stay with or outrun a stock S if we were to both to shift at about 5,500RPM.

Since I don't like to run an engine at high RPM all the time, this car is just right for my driving style.

Oh, no doubt, LilRedMini ...everything's cool in the MC-hood:smile:. Just a CVT coincidence, I'd say

Have you autocrossed against an S? There is no given that you'd bow down to an S before the flag dropped

*wongakh: Don't know. Someone'll jump in, for sure!

*mybroscoop: How does your camshaft and headers affect your CVT? Not interested in either but just curious. Thanks!

*paddy: I just watched your cool vid again. Did you have your CVT in manual at the time? If so, did you shift or did the computer do so? Once again, good stuff:smile:

We may have some comparison data coming. Octaneguy has one on order and I lent him my pocket dyno to get some before and after data. He's waiting on his cable from Germany.

I finally bought myself the Mini Mania Intake. The installation was simple except the removal of the stock resonator. The initial impression is that the car seems to pickup better and sounds a bit louder too. I guess the main benefit of having the Mini Mania Intake is the replacement of the stock resonator with the redesign air pipe, which is a bit bigger and all the air draws from the front will go directly to the stock air box (as the stock resonator is with two air outlet, one going to the stock air box and the other going down to somewhere underneath the car).

hmmm, I'm subscribed to this thread, but I dont think I've ever posted to it.

I have a 2003 CR/B Cooper

I don't know what you consider "mods" and which not, but I have:
Custom engraved Whalen
shorty antenna
clear sidemarkers
euro shelf & GBO
aux input
German front plate (which is leaving soon thanks to a new mod )
Miltek cat back (love love love it)
17" polished R99s (as opposed to the original 5-stars)
**He's currently taking up residence at Detroit Tuned getting a whole host of new things. I'm very excited.

Bad pic, but its the most up to date. My Cooper, Jason, with some friends:
