Regular MC owners with Mods - post yours here
>>I'll be installing the Moss Motors MC intake tonight or this weekend. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
I put it in last night. Piece of cake to install. The instructions are good and everything fit perfectly. Trickiest part was removing the original rubber hose from the throttle housing (engine was still hot). Whole process took about half an hour to 45 minutes.
It sounds like performance is improved but hard to tell for sure if it is. The increased sound will at times actually decrease performance as it triggers the passenger seat governor (wife).

ok I have spent more money now. The tailight and sidemarker tint is in. I have the RSpeed Chrome/satin ebrake handle installed with the Montecarlo shift **** on back order.
I've also put the MSD Coil, wires and Denso IK22's in this last week.
I've also ordered some 16 x 7 " Panaspoirts for that clasic look. Pictures to be posted when they arrive and are installed. I'm also going to have it dyno'd soon too! Can't wait to see what it shows.

Andy,
The Monster is a better fit on my car - seems like some Cooper's have a tad more space than others under there. I have seen some slight rubbing on the cloth intake hose from the part of the intake that connects to the throttle body. But the Monster is LOUDER - and with my exhaust, the Twister was a bit drowned out. Performance is hard to judge, but the fit is better, at least for me.

>>cool. I'm curious about that because one of the things with SCCA in stock class is that you could do a MC sport front sway and a MCS Sport Plus rear sway to get more of a differential front to back. That would be permitted under the rules as I understand them. So I look forward to any feedback you have if the change is noticable.
Here is the rules as I, and others at national events, see it. To replace the stock rear sway with the SS+, you will have to change the springs to SS+ as well. The shocks and front sway are "free" i.e. replaceable under the rules. It gets tricky when you put SS+ springs. There are at least 10 different part numbers depening on how your car was optioned.
In addition, the stock shocks can not keep up with the increased rates of the SS+ springs. This may not be an issue with lighter wheels, but the wheels on my car were oscilating under high speed sweepers during the DC Tour.
To update my post, I have added Koni SAs (thanks Joe, Hector). SSR Comp Rs will be here before Topeka (knock on wood).

Figured it was time to update my post....put a few items from the "future" list on the car, etc.
On the car now:
-17x7.5 SSR-Cs w/ 215-45-17 Bstone Potenza S-03s (& custom centercaps)
-RSpeed exhaust
-Racing Dynamics strut brace
-B&M short shifter
-RDR rear swaybar
-HSport ARCAs (upper and lower)
-SS brake lines
-PiperCross Viper CAI
-8.5 Magnecors
-windows tinted
Misc goodies:
-one of those hot pocket thingies
-glove box organiser
-boot box
-front euro plate
Near-future installs:
-Hamann checker bonnet stripes
-EBC Greenstuff front brake pads
-Mintex Redbox rear pads
-EBC sport rotors (front & rear)
-ProMINI drop links
Planning:
-amps (got 1 so far) and speakers (probably Rainbow)
In the wings and/or left-overs:
-Rogue exhaust - still in the box, untested/unused
-Helix exhaust - GREAT system but too loud for me
-Helix strut brace - VERY sturdy but requires a slotted battery box cover on MCs so I replaced it (see above)
((edit)) I sold the Helix exhaust & I went back to the Helix strut brace (the Racing Dynamics brace is back in the box)

My understanding is that the SS+ package upgrades the shocks and bars to the
"S" parts, but the springs stay the same. The springs are spec'd to the weight of
the car to get the right rate and height, and depending on options and model.

Springs are definitley different. I checked with several parts departments, and they are dependent on options that are on the car. I had to have SS+ springs shipped from Germany to have the correct part numbers. There are at least 12 different part numbers, rates, and distinct paint markings on the springs. The SS+ springs are about 12% stiffer than stock. MCS springs are not the same as SS+ springs. The ratio front to rear is different, as a MCS has more weight on the front. I have done all the homework for this and have the paperwork to ensure that I do not get protested.

Hmm, need to repost the front shot, made it smaller than expected. ALso, I took the Helix off recently after recieveing a noise violation ticket from our local constabulary. Might just keep it for testing on.

Bump for Cooper owners....
And if any of you guys have chipped it yet - post it.
When I do mine, you bet it will be dyno'd.
And an update on the Monster Force Intake - still very happy with it, car sounds great. Cooler air yesterday, my MC was really ripping around here. Definitely more power than a stocker...

>>
>>Rogue Engineering Exhaust
>>H&R Springs
>>Prodrive P1 Wheels, Yokohama Parada Spec 2 tires 205/45/17
>>Helix Stage 1 Brake Kit
>>Macncheese experimental cylindrical air filter
>>
>>I had the car dyno'd back in December, chart is below. It is still out to debate whether the Rogue Exhaust makes power. It's throaty, car feels faster. Same with the air filter. The car dyno'd better than stock, has not been dyno'd since the air filter. With the new filter, there seems to be more "ooomph" above 4000 RPM's. With the windows open, it's a screamer. Wheels and tires were a vast improvement over stock runflats - ride is quieter and smoother. Springs definitley improve feel on curves, as well making the car look more aggressive. Brakes are much better than stock now - better pedal feel and response.
