Turn signal sound

Is it just me or is the turn signal on the 2009 clubman LOUD? None of my other cars have a turn signal this obnoxious!

I haven't tried but I'm wondering if the "gong" volume level would also control the turn signal tone. That control is in the sound control menu of the radio. I will attempt later because there is a sand storm out there right now.

The gong adjustment that some cars have will not change the sound of the signal lights.

The sound comes from behind the speedometer or the vent just to the left of it. I have not as of yet had the car apart enough to figure out if it is actually a relay.

I think it's a German car thing. Loud in my VW, loud in BMWs I've been in, etc.

I also think it's a German (European?) thing for it to come from the center console (as opposed to behind the instrument stack in most other cars), which may not make it louder, but for some reason draws your attention to it.

You will get used to it. My older MINIs didn't sound like this one and at first I found it a bit loud, too, but now it's just part of the driving experience.

Yes - and it makes me very nostalgic! Not the blinker sounds, though.

I have an R56 speedo for a project I'm working on. I opened it out of curiosity and thought I would post these photos. The back of the speedo has a mini speaker near to the top.

Interesting, wonder what it "speaks?

After owning my car for 5k miles now I find the noises have become even more annoying over time, not less. Hope someone comes up with a fix for this, and soon!

BTW, not all German cars do this, our 2004 Audi allroad is blissfully quiet when performing it's signaling and seat-belting duties.............

Given how long some people can drive with their turn signal on, the louder the better!

Not my area of expertise, but it could be playing digitized sound clips or there might be a sound chip that directly synthesizes sounds. With some heavy duty hacking and reverse engineering, it should be possible to change the volume and type of sound.

The obvious fix is to open up the speedo and muffle the speaker. I think even just taping over the speaker holes would go a long way.

2011 Clubman S here and my turn signals are silent. Adjusting the gong in the radio has no effect on turn signal silence. I did have rather loud turn signals for 150 miles or so ... then silent. I thought my husband made the "adjustment", he thought I did! Any suggestions to get a little volume?

My turn signal sound stopped too in my 2009 Clubman. It's been on since the beginning but suddenly it's gone. Any suggestions as to what this may be? A fuse or loose connection to the speaker in the speedo?

Thanks!

Yes, mine is loud too and quite annoying at times. Would love to find the source and mute it a bit.

I have to say the thing I appreciate most about my Honda is that the turn signals don't sound like the Mini's. that thing is stupid loud.
