If you're looking for an easy and quick answer, there isn't one...Seems like you've looked at all the regular places in the US? (Turkys.com in S.C. and Minimania.com?)
Now it is a matter of scanning & waiting. Otherwise, import one from the UK. I've bought a few that way. Although prices have increased & exchange rate isn't favorable, it does give you another source. For shipping contact Phoenix Cargo (London/Southampton).

Mini wanted..
My friend has a 1978 Mini 1000 for sale and it is 100% unmolested. It is in driving condition but it will require a restoration to make pristine again. It woudl be a very very easy restoration as things such as the boot and floor panels are in great condition. I know he is asking $2000 for it but I am sure he would go down to $1500 if you were interested. It is located in Germany but I can help with arranging shipping if you would be interested. If you pm me then I will send you pictures and tell you anything about it. I am shipping a Mini back to my home state in Idaho in about two weeks so I could ship this Mini at the same time. PM me if your interested and I will get you pictures and a phone number of my friend that owns this Mini. -Brandon

I think you'll find that just about any Mini that is reasonably priced will turn out to be a project car. It may come down to how much of a project you want it to be, whether you want to do the work yourself or farm it out, whether you want to own a welder, etc...

I guess the question is how much do you want to spend? we can all offer up ideas but what I have found (and please don't take offence if I am wrong) is that no one really want a project, its just that is what they are going to get for what they want to spend, If you tell me how much you want to spend I can tell you what you will end up with, I am not the be all and end all expert but I am pretty good and letting you know what you are going to get for X price. Please also let me know where you live. If its california there are 2 ways it can go, You can get very lucky and find ON YOUR OWN, a car hidden in someones garage for cheap, (if one of us finds it its not going to be as cheap thats why I said on your own) OR you will find a car that someone knows is calif legal and it is going to be a bit more pricey as Calif has quite a strict import policy and not many minis fit within their requirments and thus command more money.
We are happy to help but more info is needed. Can you do or do you want to do, bodywork? Engine work? Change the engine and thus the engine condition does not matter? (realize that a non runner costs more to import)
Cheers. Peter
