Stereo system for classic

Has anyone put in a stereo system in their classic? Any suggestions of speaker placement, amp, subs, etc...? If you have photos of your system please post here.
Thanks

I don't know what I have counts as a system...

but I do have a CD/radio and some 6x9's

the rear shelf can easily hold 6x9's and there are console kits available

my gallery has a shot of my interior with such a kit

but before you start adding much else you need to take a look at your electrical system. how much power do you have to spare b4 you need to upgrade your alternator?

recently there was another poster who was adding lights and strange things started happening. he appeared to be overloading the available output.

recommend you also look for a couple of issues of MiniWorld - most of the feature cars fm UK are carrying some major systems. that should give you some ideas....

Plenty of room for 6x9's under the rear seat...easy to make a board, harder on the rear deck and it messes up the classic look...besides, if you have a good exhaust system, you've got enough music going on, who needs a stereo?

i really don't use mine much -- at highway speed things are too loud already -- of course I'm not pushing 10,000 watts either...

and

I just got a new MiniWorld yesterday. Lot's of ads for prefabbed speaker mounts for the rear and the doors. Even if you don't buy, lots of ideas for your own fabrication. Everything from mild to wild.

Local B&N carries MiniWorld in many locations...

thx STLMINI. I am leaning towards and amp plus a 10" sub in the boot and a head unit in the dash. Did you cut any holes in the rear seat so the speakers are facing out, or are they covered up under the seat? Do you have a photo? How's the sound with the AMP and the IPod?

Well the back shelf is a good enough spot for speakers and the area under the back seat can be used for some bass or additional mids. Look in Mini World magazine, there is usually one overdone stereo per issue to give you some ideas.
