From what I understand, and this is a bit of a generalization, but Minis from down under tend to have better bodies than those from GB, due to climate, but their engines tend to be more beat as well as the trannies. The reverse would be said for those from GB, body rot, but better engines.

Granted, this isn't the case for everything, but I know a guy who imports a good number from GB and some from down under, and this is what he has noticed.

Other than that, it looks nice, just be sure to have someone check it for rot along the a pillar, as well as under the door sills

I have purchased a 79/96 mini from the same dealer. I pick it up on Friday. Mine is very similar. Less money but doesn't look quite as clean. I don't know if it is soon enough but I can let you know if this guy is for real on Saturday.

I picked up my mini from Tacoma yesterday. I was not disapointed. The car was as advertised. In quite good shape keeping in mind that it is 26 years old. More dings and minor trouble under the paint then the pictures showed but nothing more then I expected. The exaust got torn off getting on or off the boat but it was easily fixed. I would say that he is an honest vendor. I have had quite a hard time getting the car started. 1275cc fuel injected. When it does start, (after 30 minutes of cranking, jumping and probing) it starts very easily after that. Five or six hours later it is very hard to start again. It came with a full tank of fuel, when the engine is cranking but not starting you can smell the fuel only it has a strong "rotten oranges" smell. Could it just be old gas?
