Anyone want to split a 40' container (UK Import)?

All,

I am thinking about importing a UK mini when i move back to the USA in October. If you are thinking about doing the same perhaps we can split the cost of a 40' container. It would be shipped to the port of Newark NJ.

Any takers?

-Will

YES! but sadly I don't think I can actually buy a classic Mini right now.
What is the cost of a 40' container btw?

A cheaper option is to ship a car RO-RO, if your car is running. There's a slightly higher risk of damage, but I have had good luck with it.

Yeah, just got a quote for RO/RO for about £800 ($1400). It doesn't break my imaginary budget of $5000 all in.

Not sure but a 20' container, which i think would fit 2 cars runs about £1600 ($2500).

Not that I have the money currently but if I did, and trusted you with my money to buy me a nice classic over there and put it on your container, what I'm I going to have to go thru once it reaches port here in the U.S. and with DMV. Splitting the cost of the container isn't bad at all.

I emailed the Customs & Border Control over at Newark and they sent me this:

You must bring the following documents,
1. Passport,
2. driver’s license
3. Arrival notice
4. bill of lading
5. proof of ownership of the car
6. the current title of the car.

We will provide the forms you will need to bring to get the car titled and registered in NJ. It should take
About 20 minutes to complete this process. We are open Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 but with a car please come before 4:00.

Thank You,

That doesn't sound too bad other then I don't have a passport, but you do. So what are classics going for over there in U.S. dollars for a very good driver,( doesn't really need anything, but not a show car )

This one is over my budget by about £500. Lowest he would go was 2800.

wish I was in the position to swing that. Just under $4000 isn't that in US dollars?
Looks to be a very nice car, would take some getting used too changing gears with my left hand..

Switching hands takes about 5 minutes (i drive manual zip cars in London). 1gbp is 1.60usd (today). So that car would be about $4823.10 (£3000).
