It's a sad day...time to sell the Mini
The day has come for me to sell my Austin Mini
There are other things in my life that I need to focuses finances on, especially when it comes to repairs for my R53 and school. So I have listed the car in NAM and some other sites.
It has certainly been a wonderful time owning the car and learning so much from the other Classic Mini owners. I am sure in the future I'll be owning one again.
It really is like giving up a child or pet for adoption...I didn't realize I had gotten so attached to this damn car until now!
I still can't believe how a single car can attract so many reactions from people and bring so many smiles to other peoples' faces. The joy it brought to others was the best thing about owning the car.
Going to miss the little guy...

I am also going to miss messing with people with the steering wheel being on the right side...

No. Fuel injection was added around 1995.

Thank you everyone and ditto on what MINIxB said. It has a carb.
I will be surprised if I don't shed a tear when it sells
The experience of owning one was worth it and later in life I'll be on the hunt for another (maybe two
).

Thank you, I hope so too. The main person who is interested in the car is oddly enough in Texas. Kind of wish the car would stay in my general area but for the right price and the right now, I can't complain.
I would love to not sell the car but the car will just sit in the garage and not be able to be worked on when I am at college. And the R53 is my DD so I would rather put the maintenance costs into that car.
well hopefully the guy in texas who wants it is close to me i would love to take a ride in that bad boy
It is unlike any other car you've driven in!
Hmmm, good question. Even though they are the "same" cars, you feel more connected with the Classic due to the lack of power steering, electronic throttle, etc. It handles differently but they both handle well.
The power is certainly nice in the R53...especially when passing cars (I have the 998cc engine in the classic). And the suspension in the classic can get quite bumpy at time if you are not used to it, so I don't mind the harder suspension with the R53.
They have their own personalities, which is what I like most.

I should be receiving the payment tonight, after that Winston's new home will be in Texas.
I'll have to take a video of it being loaded on the shipping truck, I have a feeling the driver is going to have some trouble with such a little car

I would have sold the R53, and bought a "paycheck" Honda. Wouldn't be as much cash left over as there would be selling the classic, but might tide you for a while. I've never driven a classic Mini, but there is something about old cars that can't be replicated in something modern, regardless of cost. I do like my R50, but compared to my Duster, it's a conveyance, not a car.
Best of luck with your endeavors.
