I have to get up at 0430 to get on the road - I'm taking grandma to the doctors office for a routine visit by 0900, but a.) I have to go get her old station wagon from my uncle's house (which is 2+hrs north of here in the middle of NOWHERE) b.) gotta run the 30 minutes from his house to her nursing home, then take her to the doc's c.) gotta do a girls lunch (no complaining there!) d.) run every thing back the reverse direction. Any trip to gram's takes pretty much most of the day. I'm not complaining, but wow does it make for a long day. And lots of driving, not all in the MINI. But the wheelchair won't fit in the MINI along with three people. *sigh.*

UGH, understand, shame you have to pick up the car first. most doctors offices will have a wheelchair on hand at the office if that helps anything...
Your a good grandaughter!
good luck but at least enjoy the lunch with the girls!!

Yeah, i thought about that, but if I take the lady to lunch, she needs the chair. Her beater car is NO WHERE NEAR as fun as the MINI. Ah well. Makes her happy, that's what counts.

What are YOU up to today? Online kinda early, aren't ya?

Oh bummer- oh well!
I'm always up early with hubby, I don't sleep past (as you would say) 0500 so this is late for me, but running shortly, have an appointment at 01200 (is that correct?) and so just about to go get ready, but need to get in my 4 cups of coffee first...
Ususally we go out to dinners friday nights but hubby woke this morning very early coughing and sneezing and so thinking we will order in some chinese soup for dinner tonight.
tomorrow hopefully he is feel ok to see his baby grandson, if he isn't feeling good i'm sure they would appreciate him going over.
But it is supposed to be 59 degrees today, not sunny but hey that is close to open top weather, so i'm happy!!! we are finally on the brink of spring!!!

Wow - more power to ya, sweetie. If I don't HAVE to get up early, I don't. I've done too much staying awake for my own good. Poor hubby - hope he feels better. I know that virus is going around - it knocked out 1/3 of my work section this week! [It's just 1200 (24-hr clock) but it's "good enough for government work!" hahahahahah! I crack myself up...] I know! I had the windows down, the sunroof open, and radio blasting last night. *sigh* it's the litttle things that make ya happy.

Just curious... why don't the two of you go alone? Is there some reason that someone else has to go with you? Cause... if it was just the two of you, you could fit the wheelchair in the back of the MINI and save yourself and your grandma's station wagon, some gas.

Hello all!! Happy Friday!! Gem - I sure hope you husband isn't getting that nasty bug that knocked me out for 10 days!! Most people I know have either had it, have it now, or just recovering...!!
RG and uhoh--- my initial thought was why not just rent a mini van for a day???? Rentals can be pretty economical these days.

McWill, I am sorry to hear that you are feeling some pressure on the unemplyment front-- we know your pain. I never, ever dreamed that in my lifetime that I would be worrying like this. I always thought that our conutry would never go through a depression again and it sure looks like we are well on our way again!
I am like you, I have lots to be thankful for and my husband has found some really interesting part time work and he feels like he is staying " in the loop" so to speak, but gosh it seems to get harder and harder. And I am so sick of watching the market free fall... hopefully soon Gem and I will have good weather to help lift our spirits. Good weather would really help.

Oh well,,, shaking it off,,,, Happy Friday to everyone!!

Well, unfortunately, Gram is not a lightweight chick, nor is she altogether fit for mobile activity. She has a 24-hr a day care giver (they do it in shifts - she's not always a nice person if she doesn't like you and they need a break!) that normally goes with us - trained nurse and all that. I could probably do it on my own - she usually gets a move on for me / makes an effort, but I just don't want her to feel like she HAS to act healthy to move around with me. She also wouldn't be very comfy in my sports seats...she's...ah...um...a big girl now. Short, but round.

My advice is to pace yourself,,, don't feel that you have to read it all in one setting. Maybe someone can bring you the martini's and save you some time?

Welcome to our madness!! There is a lot of interesting and whacky stuff on here!
Oh,,, and let us know when you are ready for a Nickname........

Ah... I get it. My great grandma was diabetic and in a similar situation before she passed. I loved her very much, but I am also very glad that I take after my dad's side.

*sigh* I'm screwed from both sides. Pears and apples (not the bad Apple-Cybergypsy kind though) all around...I'm the tallest female in my family on both sides - everybody else is 5'6" or shorter...and almost ALL of them are R*O*U*N*D. It's an uphill battle.

McWill, hang in there! I know how you feel, it's pretty slow here too. Luckily, my wife puts up with a not so successful hubby, and supports my sorry a$$! Too bad we're all so far apart, we could pool all this creative talent and dig our way out!

X, I'm betting you're just two pears, one inverted on top of the other (read figure 8)...

Thanks to all for the encouraging words!

I need to figure out what to fix for dinner. It's Lent now, so meatless Fridays...
