Sweet paint job, Norm! Did you do that in your home painting booth or send it out?

It's amazing what some folks can do in their garages. My garage? Hmm. I drink a beer while pondering what mod I might consider for my MINI. If that's not the reason for the beer, it's have a beer in the garage while looking into the empty corner daydreaming of the mini pick-up that will eventially park there.

Wow. Real paint vs vinyl stripes. I'm jealous.

Just curious Norm what was the weather like when you painted. I tried to shoot some primer last weekend in the garage and it kept clogging the gun because of the heat. The gun was a devilbiss so it wasn't one of those cheapos. I ended up waking up at 2 am and priming then. I'm glad for sure I'll be using a booth for the paint.

I may be crazy but I flipped my mini shell over on the side to work on the bottom. I'll post a pic of it tomorrow.

By the way that 4 runner is clean even before you painted it. You won't find one without tons of holes here in PA.

it was cool out when we sprayed, we painted in the early morning and let evenings so that the humidity was low.......i got lucky there was no rust on the 4runner...it was an awesome find.....when i sold the mini that you now have i bought the truck for 3200.00...it has some miles on it (183k) but Toyota's run for-ever (knock on wood)

In my younger years the manager at a pizza place I worked at let me use his toyota on occasion to take deliveries. We changed the oil out back of the pizza place one day and it looked more like a grease than a oil. That thing had at least 300K and to my knowledge he is still driving it.

Hi Norm, neat paint job

I had to deal with a burst pipe in my house causing almost $14,000 in damage, then got that squared away and my clutch master cylinder went out, replaced that and now I am back in the road!

Mini XB what is wrong with your Mini?

I have a soft spot for them since I've had 3 before my MINI

I'd love to get a classic mini down the road as well.

So, MINIXb - what's wrong with the Mini?

I've left mine in the garage - too hot to drive it lately. A buddy of mine and I bought a 69 Jaguar E-Type. Katrina flooded but very solid. If we had a spare $20K we could restore it. We don't so we are parting it out. It's been fun dismantling it and we should be in the black pretty soon.

Only way to stop this is to cut it out, buy/make the little repair pieces and weld in new metal. You should pull the seam cover off to get to the rust under there. Check your boot floor by the wheel arch, too. It's not that serious (now). Don't let it go.

My Mini has a busted oil pressure pipe again so I'm waiting for the part to show up from England. I looked on Mini Mania and they didn't have what I wanted and ordering it from England was cheaper.

Type E's are beauties. I can imagine the cost of restoring one of these... $20K would be for parts, and you do all the work, right?

I spent more than $20K for parts on mine when I restored it, and that was in the early/mid 90's. I'd expect that one would require even more since it's a flood car, everything electrical would have to be replaced.

Yeah $20K is on the cheap side. The body was surprisingly solid and straight. Much worse cars have been put back on the road. We bought the car for $1,000 - a steal even in that condition.
