Dizzy?
The link gave me the VIN decoder....
I think the question is about distributors? Dizzy = distributor?
{all that follows assumes a pre Mpi engine and is what I'm interpreting...I'm no expert}
I'm not sure but I don't believe there was a different distributor based on engine size. Haynes sure doesn't break it out that way.
They just say a Lucas 25D4 for 'early' and 45D4, 59D4 or Ducellier for 'later' with one exception for Cooper S MKIII..... {and if the engine was replaced with an A series it is different yet}
{note, there ARE different settings for engine size for timing and dwell for engine size, model and year.....}
According to one source there should be 2 codes on the dizzy. One is 5 digits and a letter...and under that is the week/year of manufacture. If you can find the 5 digit/letter code call MiniMania or 7 Enterprises parts and go from there....
Haynes has drawings of them all. Chapter 5b http://www.coopermania.it/manuale_haynes.html

Also, the A series distributor is different than the A+ series, plus some later cars had electronic ignition, and some didn't have a distributor at all.
The ID is stamped on the side of the distributor. You may need a mirror to see it, or have to pull it out.

Here's a thought....
Post a picture or two of your dizzy and we'll try to ID it....
or
why do you ask....
(an old TQM trick was to respond to any question by asking WHY 5 times. This was the average that got the responder to the REAL question
