Boot Lid Question

I had an idiot bump into the back of my 1980 Mini 1000 today while sitting at a red light! The question is regarding the dent he left.

Is it possible to remove the inner frame of the boot lid? The dent is directly behind one of the inner panels. Also, how likely is it that the dent could be suctioned out by a body shop?

Is there a kink in the metal or is the dent pretty smooth? If theres a kink/crease/sharp corner you probably wont be able to fix it paintless.

If you have to repaint they can spot weld on little studs and pull it out from the outside.

If the dent is a pretty decent size try a kitchen sink plunger, sometimes it may just pop back out. I pulled out a pretty nice fender dent on my first car with a plunger and it only left a little mark.

Take it to one of the dent specialty places. Maybe they can pop it out for you with their special tools. Lot cheaper than repaint or replace.

if its not kinked, then try this before going to a body shop. get yourself canned air (the stuff to clean keyboards) and a hair dryer. take the canned air, turn it upside down, and spray for about 15-20 seconds on the dent. a VERY cold spay will come out. as soon as you finish spraying, take the hairdryer and put it on the hottest setting on the dent. and viola! the dent will pull out.
