Anyone want a BRAND NEW MOKE?

If so, MiniMania just announced that they're selling complete Mini Moke kits! See here for details:

http://www.minimokeusa.com/

According to MiniMania:

"This extensive Moke kit has been specifically engineered for the “hands on” enthusiast, who finds as much enjoyment in the construction as the driving. We suggest using a Mini donor vehicle for your build allowing straight forward transfer of the brakes, suspension, engine and gearbox. This will also assist when registering the vehicle as the logbook can be easily updated."

Now there's an app. for a spare Vtec! It has taken 12 months of classic forum participation and finally, this fugly little thing is beginning to grow on me. Anyone else think Mokes are an aquired taste toy?

I've heard that they have a way of recirculating dirt/dust from the floor right into your face at 45 mph... Is that what you are refering too, Minimad?

There's absolutely no protection or comfort. While I haven't owned one, those that have love them but tolerate being severely buffeted by winds, wearing rainsuits, wearing insulated/multiple layers of clothing, gloves & caps (& I'm in FL), etc. I think they are really neat and would love one as a beach car but not to take a trip in.

Sounds kinda like a VW Thing... or an AC Cobra with a lawn mower engine in it...

But I STILL want one...

Bet it could out-corner Matt's current counterfeit MINI...

I mean a Moke would corner better (e.g. pull more G's before it got non-horizontal) than the FJ... or not... it was just a stupid little joke... but in all other respects the FJ rules, for sure...

Oh, I thought you were casting aspersions to my MINI/Mini's pedigree.

As for the Moke - I only offer the link to them that want it - I personally think they're fugly as sin, but I know some people love them. If you do, now you have an option to get some or all of it as a kit.

Moke's and clubmans are an acquired taste whereas the Mini seems cute to most right when they see it. I've grown to like both. At first blush the Moke looked like a farmer with a really bad case of buck teeth. Still does come to think of it. Consider it a "character" actor like Steve Buscemi of the Austin world. Nice in the cast, but not your lead.

If you have a donor Mini or a Mini that is on its way to becoming a pile of ferrous oxide on the garage floor this could be great. If ya build one keep the Honda parts out of it.

The Moke will indeed be offered as a complete kit minus running gear. Another option will be to have it set-up to accept a Vtec powerunit, B or D series. The home of the Mini Moke can be found here: www.MiniMokeUSA.com

Don,

Would you let the Chinese translator know that an indefinate article differs from a conjunction as is written on their home page, "...Through and exclusive contract with the manufacturer..."

Reproduction is their expertise but so is back door deal making...but why be paranoid.

Rowen Aktinson (Mr. Bean) or Steve Buscemi? It seems like the eyes of Bean and the grill of Buscemi...this could be the first Chinese hybrid!
