Hey folks,
It's been so quiet here lately that I had to jump to R53 forums today in order to maintain my diversions from being productive in the workforce.
Certainly, there has to be some newsworthy classic update or mod somewhere... Hey Imago, have you finished that vintage girlie graphic concept? Norm, where are you on the cool beach-cruiser mini concept? Meno, what's up with the fastest Super-K mini on the planet?
Somebody, jump in here or I'll be forced to get back to work.

hey minixb,
Why not just get the regular plates and replace them later with custom plates. You can pick up regular plates at any DMV counter.

While shopping at HomeDepot recently, I had a senior moment and couldn't recall where I parked my pickup. I say to myself, "Self, Let's retrace my steps... oh yeh, I came here to look at garden supplies, barbeques..."
I have to fess up... I stole
the photo from www.minipick-up.org. If the royalties start rolling in, I'll forward proceeds to their site.
but seriously, a nice thing about minis is that they take up so little space. A garden shed would double as a mini garage.

I know the feeling...
I'm getting historic plates for her and I'm told I have to send in the form to get them even if they're just regular ones so I'd still have to wait. Oh well. I still drive her around sometimes.
LOL Great picture.

This weekend I'm hoping to get my Mini mostly finished. The new windscreen should arrive early next week, and I took my license plate bracket design to a local VOTECH high school yesterday, it should get done next week, but the rest of the parts that need to go back on should be on by Monday afternoon (I hope).
Still to do:
Bumpers (new bolts are mated with new washers and new nylon-locking nuts)
Locking strip on rear windscreen (front has to wait for the new glass)
Mount & hook up the rear fog light
Install the new 9-piece carpet set
Re-install the rear and passenger seats
Install the new "Austin Mini" script badge I got from England with other parts
Install the front door cards.
That's what NEEDS to be done. What I have the parts for and want to do soon:
Install braided brake lines, including a clutch line
Replace the handbrake quadrants and tighten up the handbrake
Replace the wiper & indicator stalk assembly with a new one, so the high beams will stay on
Replace the front rubber cones
Replace gas shocks all round
Apply the "OEM" bonnet stripes that came from England
Put the front seat covers that I picked up in Australia on
Clean up the wiring in the boot
Find that damn rattle in the rear of the driver's side. It was still there while the car was stripped for painting!

It seems that most of the boards are quite. At least the ones I frequent. They always seem to get this way about this time of year. On the plus side I am at least going to help a friend finish putting theirs back together tomorrow.

I thought about calling you last week on account of the silence. Perhaps you were in rehab...perhaps on a bender...but certainly you were not at rest.
Where to start? I have a phantom electrical problem that doesn't cause any real problem (at least one with which I am aware) except the car randomly starts with a terrible idle for about 30 seconds then acts like nothings wrong.
I'm on my third set of tires and and third exhaust system. The tires are Kumho 175/60/13's and are the best fit for size and all but do NOT hold or "feel" like the Yokohama 175/50/13 0048R's. The exhaust is clearly the best yet...fully mandrel bent stainless with a Magnaflow muffler and dual tip. Exhaust note is utterly obnoxious at high rpm (i-vtec) which thrills me but causes my ears to ring if I have the rear windows cracked and go through a tunnel...all tunnels are to be driven at high RPM's, ya know.
My Koni 3012 adjustment on the front left broke so I need to drive all the way back to Sears Point to have it fixed.
My shock towers have slowly bent from under engineering so MiniTec sent me some new ones which need to be mounted next week...hopefully if I get time.
Monday through Friday is all Mini driving. By the weekend my wife's Honda Pilot is a welcomed experience for my back and fillings. BUT when Monday morning rolls around, its all about Racer X and soprano exhaust notes.

I don't have a garage but I still have a classic. I was hoping that if I got the classic someone would throw in a garage. No such luck. So I just work on it under the carport.
Looks like 8 more months to me, optimistically speaking.
One thing for certain within the SVC (secret vtec society), one does not benefit by rushing R&D.
Three sets of tires, Meno... are you rotating every 300 miles?
Sweet!!!
Nothing's new on my classic... I have not yet done the roof graphic because I never managed to schedule tiome to have the color repainted properly... Honestly, I'm pretty happy with my side-window mini versions of the Vargas-girl ATM...
Hopefully I'll be getting a bunch of parts for Xmas - notably seat covers, new carpet and black door cards, door furniture, polished rocker cover and a few other goodies are all on my Wish List.
Oh, and I put a stereo in and speakers in hand-built speaker pods last month... Just haven't had the time to shoot photos of them yet (doh!). I've been kinda distracted with other things.
Nothing as exciting as Dimini's news' I'm afraid.
